Holy crap! I thought I got a good deal when I found mine for $415 each. This is an incredible deal for anyone near this part of California. There are no networks, but I have several I will sell since I've gone active.

Heck, one cabinet alone is worth $500.

You guys don't know what you are missing! I would bet 4622ns would run side by side with some very highly regarded speakers on AVS and better most in Midbass and soundstage! $250 each! Spend for shipping crying out loud!

AVR-Yamaha A830
amps-5 Adcom 555 in 850 watt monoblock mode
sub amp-Sanway FP14K
LCR-Dual stacked BFM DR-250's
Surrounds- Dual stacked BFM W10's
subs-12 SI 18's ported 6hz.

So, how would something like these 4622's compare to some of these seos builds I keep seeing on here? When I get done with my subs, I was looking at building new lcr. I was really leaning towards using the TD15M, seos 18, and DNA-360, but I have to say these JBL's look intriguing.

the 4622 is superior. the compression driver is larger, so can be crossed in much lower than the dna 360. the 2035h woofer is probably quite similar in performance to the td15m, both have very good inductance control. i'm not sure why they changed when they moved to the 4722. mistake imho.

if they are good, somebody should definitely buy these speakers.

No doubt James. You were my inspiration (with the 3622's) when I bought mine. Now with the upgraded CD's (2450-SL) and acively bi-amped, I'd put them against any of the reference speakers here.

I drove 12 hours, each way yo get mine!

I owned the eD cinema upgraded speaker which had just as good as a CD(DE-250) and a better 12 than the kits(kappalite 3012HO). The seos waveguide is probably better. So assuming the sound is quite similar to my upgraded eD's to the seos 12 kits(high end ones) I would take the 4622N's all day long for movies! Their soundstage is enormous with huge impact which just can not be denied. The JBL's still have the best midbass I have ever heard with my BFM dr/titan combo coming in a close second. I prefer the line array tweets over the CD horn as clarity and live sounding is concerned. Again for $250 one can not build a speaker to match this! The DR-250's(only in my opinion) would better them over 200hz but from 40-150hz there is no contest. To the credit of the DR's they were desined to go with their Titan subs(or tubas) and with that combo it would take it but now it is $600 to build so the 4622N is still the bang for buck champ! Here comes the bad, they are enormous measuring 60 inches tall(good for towers) but the very bad part is they are 30 inches wide! If you can fit them this is a no brainer over anything else!

Hey Guys,

I must say I scored lucky here in the UK. Last year I bought 3 x 4622n-hf with 3x 3678 Midbass (2226 drivers) from a private screening room for £150! Thats like $220 for all three!

THey are fantastic, but I still need to flip the horns (they beam 10 degrees into the carpet) and sort the crossovers. The networks in the 3678 are 1kHz passive which I run bi-amped at present. Obviously there is an accoustic centre distance issue at 1kHz with such big horns!

Dear Wrager, might I enquire as to your active crossover set-up? DSP or analog?

I have JBL 5235 with 250Hz cards and need to find the right card setup - I believe 500Hz 18db/octave with CD compensation is the best match? The 2360 card?

You and Widget are the only other home users as I know of - hes running an altec model 19 type passive.

I recommend anyone to go for the 4622 tops! The 2035 is a cheaper driver, but I have heard it sound good in lots of JBL semi-pro PA boxes and if you run subs anyway I don't see an issue.

Happy Hi-Fi 2013, all!

I use three Crown DSi-1000's. They were made specifically for JBL cinema speakers so they have presets for the 4622's (and many others).

There was a guy on ebay that had a bunch of the amps that were B stock. I paid $400 each ( MSRP is $900).

If you'd ship them I'd buy it immeadiately. I already own 2 3722N's. Is this the N version?

If one is going to make a simplistic assessment of the value of different alignments, it would be that sealed/IB goes the lowest, at the highest cost per dB; horns have the lowest cost per dB at the expense of size, and vented box characteristics lie in between the other two. None is inherently superior across the board, neither is any inherently inferior across the board. The one to use is the one that fits your response and output needs, available space and bank account. -BFM

I usa a QSC DSP 30 for configuring the subs. The DTS-10 is on the left behind the screen. The 2242's are in a 5749 cab to the right.

I use the DTS-10 from 12-50. The 2242's from 30 up to 150. The 2245 and TD-18 are in 12 cu ft ported cabs on each mid wall adjacent to the LP. They run from 20 to 125. DSCN1846.JPG 437k .JPG file DSCN1848.JPG 430k .JPG file

Wow I can't imagine the headroom in your rig, it must be such low distortion. I wish Danley existed in the UK. I have never heard the tapped horns... 12-50 is such a sweet spot for the DTS where most rigs are fighting their own sensitivity.

May I ask just how big your room is?

Thanks for the nice comments. Of course I owe my knowledg and aspirations to this very forum. I'm pretty close to where I want to be until I can afford DSL Synergy horns. Even then I'm not sure how much better theyd be than the JBL's.

James-the room is 18' x 25'. Heavily treated!

Hi,

Did you ever find a source for cards for the 5235?
I need a pair of 52-5140 cards. However, it should not be too difficult to build the cards from blank cards ( 52-5120) or to modify existing cards. I just don't want to mess up the two cards that I have. So, if you have any idea as to where I might start looking for a pair of cards I shoudl be very grateful

Best regards

George
