Nice build so far!

The surround is ridiculous. Wish these drivers would have been around before I purchased and started the build on my subs.

I will be doing some solid rib bracing throughout.

If the customer wants to pay for it, I can go all out like I did on my HT 5.0 setup and like I am doing for my HT subs, but that would be pricey; full interlocking dadoed 1" thick (laminated 1/2") panels and braces throughout. eek.gifcool.gifbiggrin.gif-

Bracing will be at your discretion. For Dual Opposed, I don't think we need to get too crazy, but I'm down for what's best. That interlock bracing looks crazy good.

Correct. Ribs will squash most of the impact, but I love me some pretty bracing. biggrin.gif

To start, it will get a bridged EP4000 connected to a Trinnov receiver. If I add another set later on, it will be upgraded to a clone amp. I haven't found anything that can push the wattage needed here for under $300 like the EP4000. If there is something, I'm all ears. Not sure if I want a DSP, as I don't have anything to measure yet.

Clear coat going on. It's starting to really bring out the red/brown I was looking for:

If you look closely in the clear coat, you can see Joey's way of telling me he's going to keep the sub for himself because it is coming out so good.

what kind of poly are you using? Looks good biggrin.gif make sure to get a LOT on the ply layered parts, to help those eventually fill in all the way!

Thanks! I'm using Deft clear lacquer. I've used it on two other projects and really like it's look and feel. It's also relatively easy to work with except for the clean up using all my lacquer thinner. tongue.gif

Yea I hate that, but make sure you get that stuff to seal well on the bare ply layers, it makes or breaks the edges biggrin.gif

BWHAHAHAHAH. Last two coats of Lacquer go on today. I've used a full quart of lacquer, five coats per side. It is looking SHARP. Really jealous. I wish I would have thought to build my HT setup out of a stainable substrate, or veneer.

So yes. Last two coats today, then let it cure for about 5 or 6 days, then if I feel it is cured enough, hopefully shipped on Monday!! I should have the grills done on Thursday or Friday.

Pics tomorrow of cabinet done being cleared. Grills should be built as well. Few more days for the clear to cure completely then packing and shipping. Can't wait to see this in Vincent's house loaded!

I'm itching like a crack addict over here ever since I sold my Submersive HP and have no sub. I can't wait to load the SI's in.

The box itself just looks incredible. It screams high quality and has a sexiness factor to it. I'm glad i went with my gut and ditched going with duratex at the last minute. The wood grain looked too nice to cover up.

Since its Red Mahogany, I'm gonna call it the "Redrum" sub. It will probably sound insane, just like good old Jack. Appropriate movie sub name.

I have my UMM-6 Mic, speakons, and EP4000 ready to go once it does get here.
