It depends on the listening distance. To know exactly, you'll need to take measurements.

12-14" should not be noticeable at all if you are more then 8' back (<8 degrees).

I lay my sentinel box over sideways and use it for a stand, it is just about perfect for seated listening.

Either way, one couldn't go wrong. I'm similarly intrigued by the big TD18, have been since I first read about it.

Yeah, me too. It's too bad Josh Ricci's experience with them has not been very good. frown.gif I won't let that tarnish my interest in them though. smile.gif

Dual 18PS76 or 18TBX100 woofers would be a lot cheaper than the TD18's...

But they are not as good or interesting. wink.gif

Jk. Well, sort of.

Those are both real nice 18's but the TD18h+ is THE sound quality pro-style 18" woofer.

I would try to plan it out so that the waveguide center is exactly at my ear level when sitting in the sweet spot seat (I assume first row?) and the other row can go **** itself. eek.gifbiggrin.gif

Em.... sorry about that outburst. It was inspired by what I read in the Pendragon thread until they took it down. Seriously that thread is hilarious how pissed guys are getting at each other.

Seriously though, I think that's how I would do it (ear level waveguide) - I'm selfish that way. That and most of my guests wouldn't notice or care anyway.

That's what I'm doing with elevating it for second row. With the screen size I want in order to keep it bigger for the third row. Second row will be money seat and all rows should be far enough that it doesnt degrade too much. First row ears at about 12 get from baffle so it should be fine for them too. Of course I still need to hash throught it with Dennis too so it could change.

Oh ya, I forgot you have 3 rows. Haha. Gotta take off the blinders every once in a while. Personally, I wouldn't think about 18s right now, but I'm not a psycho. Enjoy it now and see where that leads you.

Hahahaha... I've been called worse. I just get carried away sometimes, but I have to admit, I love the idea of the 18s. I guess it would be smart to get the dual fifteens done, tuned and listen for a while.., we'll see. I just want to have something totally unecessary😁. I know it sounds dumb I some, but I like the idea of it. The towers would just be so imposing and impressive ya know

I wish I had the space for that...two 15's under a SEOS-24 is almost too tall for my room.

What is there to be gained by adding duel TD18h's per channel over the TD15's? Of course I realize that by adding the dual TD18's you will get more output in the midbass & lower midbass ranges, but what else is to be gained? I would assume that the TD15's would max out what your ears can take as far as SPL, but what else is it that you are trying to accomplish?

..but seriously, I am looking to maximize midbass output, create almost full range sound at levels beyond necessity...the point behind it all is to create a system that is capable of anything I can ask of it and runs fairly effortlessly for a long, long time. I want every component to operate in it's optimal area without taxing and not be asked to do anything outside it's wheelhouse. I know getting everything to play nice together will take some effort, but in the end I think these things will outperform anything I could ever dream of affording commercially...and lots of things I couldn't. I also think 7' towers of power will look sick in my HT biggrin.gif

I like that render. Looks just awesome, the tip-top td18h would also assist in any room height modes which people rarely are even able to tackle.

Ah yes, theater black it is. biggrin.gif

These renderings just solidfy the fact that a good part of why I want to do this is that they look so freakin cool cool.gif

Good point on the height modes as well Beast. I just can't imagine not doing the 18s at this point....they cost a couple bucks, but relative to the overall investment, they aren't bad.

It was not the plan, but I could easily enough if it made sense. My only concern would be that I would have to build the baffle wall after the fact, one the toe-in etc were figured out to be optimal, and then build the baffle wall around those details. The original plan was three feet of depth behind the screen and everything in free space there.

Jake - you have a problem and I LOVE it! biggrin.gif

You planning to get them up and running before the 18s? Or you going to wait to put it all together? Either way I'm making a trip up there at some point.

I do, I have a serious issue, but I love it too!! It's funny, but the crazier I get with this, the more it makes me smile.

I don't know honestly...I think I'll have enough time before the room is done to get the 18s in there too. That doesn't negate the fact that the seosr dual15 design could be ready far sooner than the room is and we can listen to them anywhere biggrin.gif

Let's make it a goal to at minimum get together by the end of the year. Me, you, Brandon, and Austin (plus spectators) for a 'baller' LCR shootout.

Disgusting SEOSR setup with TD15m/18 combo? Check.
Danley SM's? Check.
Yorkville U215s? Check.
Talking Austin into Noesis 212's? In progress. biggrin.gif (we could always use Dave/Reef as well as backup)

LETS DO THIS.
