Looking to build a coupld subs for my home theater which is still in progress. I currently have an old Parts Express Titanic 12" in a roughly 3 cuft sealed box. I would like to leave it in my living room and build something better for the HT. The Titanic is running off a plate amp in the back of the box. I figure the new HT subs would run off an Inuke or similar. With my current screen wall i have room for a box 21x22x27 in both front corners. Ive read a couple builds with the SI15/18 and i like the price of the drivers, but thats not the ultimate deciding factor. I also thought about the slim THT and placing it in the back of the theater. So, looking for ideas, comments maybe 4 boxes in each corner?

Your given box dimensions (22x21x27) would allow for right around 5 ft3 23hz tune with a pair of 4 x 22" ports. That would be perfect for a pair of RS15HO subs driven by an NU3000dsp.

What are the dimensions of your room? Is it sealed or open to other rooms?

Room is roughly 20x15x9, sealed but not sound proof like many theaters.

I think two sealed 18's would do well in that room. Sounds like you also have room in the back so you could always add more down the road if you wanted.

how about a pair of RSS460HO 18s perhaps with a pair of 4.0 cuft flat packs? Not sure of power yet. I could build my own boxes but im thinking of taking the easy way out. I may need to trim my Linacoustic to fit the 23" width. Was looking at the SI-18s but dont want to wait 4 months. any other ideas?

That seems like a great combo. People have had great success with that driver. If you have the tools, I would say save some money and build the boxes yourself. If you don't have access to the necessary tools, the flat packs are the way to go.

Yeah, Its not the lack of tools, but the lack of time.

Well I don't think you can go wrong with the flatpacks as long as you have the budget. I know for me, building the boxes was a big part of the fun but I had to burn vacation at the end of last year so it worked out.

Should i be looking for a driver with a larger Xmax? The RSS46 is only at 12.75. Seems like alot of other higher priced drivers have twice the Xmax and are out of stock.

looks like ill be going with a pair of RS18's in a 4cuft box (before bracing and driver). this will be a different build since all my other cabinets have been double wall MDF. Seems single .75wall with adequate internal bracing is the new way to go. My titanic sub and fronts are all double wall MDF and interanally braced. should be making sawdust this weekend during the snow storm. Probably gonna go with the Inuke 6000dsp and limit it for power based on what ive read so far.
