I want to make the little 5.25" woofer to cover from 200hz up to where it crosses over to the tweeter, and then have the new woofer cover from 200hz down to say 70hz or 80hz. I will make my own judgement as to whether or not it improves the sound. With that being said, what I am asking you guys for help on is how to implement this setup.
Does anyone know what the frequency responce is for the little 5.25" woofer in the Sierra-1? What do you guys think would be the optimal crossover to hand off the 5.25" woofer to the JBL 2226j that I will be using? Keep in mind that this will be an active setup. The tweeter will be an RAAL ribbon tweeter, so I will also need to decide on a crossover idea for crossing that over as well.
I realize that there is a possibility that this will wont workout well, but that does not matter. What matters is that I enjoy this and gain some experience and hopefully things will turn out great, but if they do not, then I will use the JBL's in another build sometime down the road, and then go back to the stock Sierra-1's. Its just as simple as that.
Oh and MKtheater, these are the Sierra-1 bookshelf monitors, not the towers.
