You just reminded me that I need to buy one for a fan mod as well. It looks like a 24v that would fit, but I'd want to hear from those who have done it for which one they liked best.

I forget which thread it was, but it seems like someone used this fan: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=3110sb-05w-b20-e00

It's got the same CFM, and slightly less noise than the one you posted.

Sounds Good to Me... keeping track of my audio projects.

Luckily Digikey isn't the only place that stocks 80x80x25mm ball bearing 24v fans. Even amazon has a ton.

Going to see if I can find a similar one.

Bought this one. Seems like a decent 26dba for the airflow.

I looked at that one and was just about to buy it, but I saw the one that I bought which was 23db and it ships in 2 days. So will see.

There are 1,200+ on hand and ships immediately on this one if you want to switch. Cheaper too.

26db - 36cfm
vs
23db - 26cfm

I already placed the order for the 23db one. Are you going to just splice the wires and use electrical tape? Or some sort of caps?

Never use just electrical tape, it won't be secure. You're better off using wire nuts if you're not going to solder it.

Done! So much better. Cant even notice that its on 1/2 the time. Much easier than I thought as the hardest part was getting the screws out.

Will push my Cap a little bit when the wife and kids leave.

I might have to do this mod. My amps aren't even the theater room, but they are still noisy enough when hanging out in the other room that they drive me nuts.

Do you have the latest Xbox? While mine is noticeable, it's definitely not anywhere near the level as the EP4000's.

I wouldn't screw with modding the Xbox fan. Too many RROD's.

Nice man, I did a fan mod back when I had my Caps and ep4000 and it went from crazy loud to I can' hear it from across the room. So worth it. I punished that amp too, clip lights like crazy during demo's and never a problem. It is also nice to know you can't hurt the Cap even with no HPF, I didn't use one.

Yup. Couldn't believe the difference. No on to convincing the wife that I need another Cap.
