Long time lurker with this forum, looking at my first DIY project. Here are some of my thoughts for the project:
-Sealed box for simplicity as this is my first build.
-Going to be using a plate amp instead of a pro-amp, again to keep things simple.
So, my question is which would provide a better listening experience? I do have a very open floor plan with large ceilings, however I am upgrading from an Onkyo HTIB 10 inch sub so I'm sure either way the difference will be substantial. I just can't seem to make my mind up about which solution will provide the best bang for the buck.
The 15 inch Ultimax is on sale right now ($169) paired with a 500 watt BASH plate amp ($230)=$399
2 12 inch Infinity 1260 or 1262 separate enclosures($110) 2 300 watt BASH amps ($300)=$410
2 12 inch Infinity 1260 or 1262 dual opposed($110) 1 500 watt BASH amp ($230)=$340
Order a Klipsch RW12D from the egg for $300 when on sale
I've been leaning towards the 15 so that I could add a second down the road possibly, but that would be in the distant future as my 2 kids seem to have first dibs on my paycheck. If I could get some recommendation also on which Infinity would present a 4 ohm load to the amp in each of the above scenarios, that would be great also. I'm still pretty new to wiring subwoofers, but any feedback is appreciated, thanks!
