It's about 14x25x7.5 so no not too big.

How do you like the Cornscala's? I might build some of those next so I can cross the Ghorns off at 60hz.

they are great speakers, but not cheap. over $1200 just for the components and Bob's nice cross overs. They sound awesome and can get very loud with very little power. no sub needed for music. make sure to also look at the SEOS Sentinel or the SEOS 15 / TD15. these might be a better bang for your buck with your sub system.

i have been wondering what something like the Sentinel or that TD15 combo in a Cornscala sized cabinet would be like.........

I'm that guy that never paints the bottoms of his subs lol. It part being lazy and part with the bottoms painted, it's extremely hard to slide them on the carpet once done.
Our rooms are really similar in size. I will be picking mine up Tuesday next week. I'm really looking forward to see what you think in your room! I know it's going to be pretty insane but HOW insane is what interests me. As of now, I'm 136dB @ 15hz, I'm hoping these will actully be able to blow a chicks dress off biggrin.gif

EASY to apply. Roller and roll it on. Simple as that. Clean up is water.

Yea I'm interested in the options. I already have the SEOS 12 with the Deltalite driver for front three. I could eventually build a fourth of those and use them as surrounds and then build some SEOS 15's or Cornscala's for the front three.

Super easy. Get a foam roller from Speaker-hardware. Gives a really nice texture and makes it really easy to apply. Just put a thick but even first coat that seals it completely and then add coats for desired texture. Dries really quick and cures rock hard. Can take a screw driver to it once it's fully cured and won't do a lot.

Driver in:

Hatches fit nicely!

In front of the screen. I think this will measure well but I'll get to that tomorrow and play around with positioning a bit.

If I put them like this I would slide them the 28 inches back against the wall / under the screen and the other foot and a half would be peaking out.

IIRC a tapped horn doesn't act like a normal horn. Placing the mouths together doesn't net +3db in efficiency, nor a -3hz lower f3.

I'm also not too worried about output, more smooth response. Also having them together with the mouth out will put the mouth about 1/4 into the room on each side. With just one sub both of were pretty smooth before. May also do one in front behind screen and one behind seating.

Any recommendations / thoughts?

Who said that and why not, the law of physics is the same for sound waves, I have two Tapped Horns and whith the second one have got +6dBs by measuring at LP smile.gif

Your craftsmanship has inspired me! I have two 3cf custom built aperiotic vented subs. Just upgraded the plate amps. The 20 yr. old (thanks to rubber surrounds) AudioConcept 12" subs still rock. I'd like to redo the boxes. Can I roll Duratex over existing latex satin black? Should I sandpaper scratch the existing finish first? Looking forward to seeing your listening/measurement tests post.

I have seen many other people use satin black as a first coat and then use Duratex over that. All looks fantastic and seems to perform just as well. I will be doing the same next time to save on coats of Duratex.

Yes that will work great. Duratex is really thick and will go over just about anything. I've done the same and it's come out looking very good.

I've read it on more than one occasion over at DIYAudio. I had always assumed it had to do with the fact that a tapped horn uses the drivers back wave. I hope I'm wrong about it... four of these guys stacked would be flat to ~10hz with ridiculous output and admirable efficiency.

I've been thinking about placement options as well.

When I get the Othorns built, there's not going to be any space for them up front. I think I'll try moving the GHs to the back of the room and see how that works.

Back wall 18" away from the corners and then have your Othorns in the front placement. Sounds like a plan for maximum spl. biggrin.gif

Sounds great so far. Need to play with room placement and actually EQ. Right now just running Ricci's base EQ + Audyssey is set to whatever my DTS-10 needed with the exception of levels being set. Playing with positioning is a pain as they weigh approximately one million pounds and I have to pull down some of the false wall to get them behind the screen without knowing if that position is even going to work.

Music is phenomenally clean and powerful. Watched Black Hawk Down and the power is certainly there, just needs EQ for sure in my room.
