In the first 30 days I will have placed 100 hours of regular usage on them, and will have played almost every song I have through them.

I should have all 10 subs pumping in T- 6 hours. Can't wait.

I'll have to make some new charts of: 2 subs, 4 subs, 6 subs and 10 subs.
I can't see how my previous charts could be made worse by having better drivers and more power. smile.gif

Done. Here's 10 subs. 33000watts in 2-ch mode.
I only crushed my fingers once (great success).

It's a fair bit louder than before, not sure on exact SPL increase numbers yet.

The mic is compressing a bit here. haha biggrin.gif

The extreme is always fun. Here is a playlist that contains <20Hz-music.

http://open.spotify.com/user/komorok/playlist/3hR9TNK5ZqpmbpLY9s7cB0

And here is a song that can be played as loud as your system can manage. No dynamic compression at all and very low distorsion all steps during recording. I have measured 130,6dBc when I played it. Unfortunately my preamp doesn't go further. Anyway, have fun with your very wisely dimensioned bass system.

I'm doing 120dbC continuous now.
I played a trance tune and I got a minimum of 116dbC with 127dbC peaks, and an average of 120dbC.
With the clone and such at -4db.

My SPL meter didn't even want to register the true peak of this song. It flashes 90dbC and then 119dbC. I'm not preamp limited, I can take the clone all the way to clipping on this track; and it can still take MORE power!

I know you dont think you need higher output speakers (even with subs playing 20+ db louder then your speakers are capable of), but that should at least give you serious consideration for replacement... Three Zephyr flat packs are pretty cheap relative to everything else, and given their performance, not a down grade.

Here's the first REW chart.

XO's set to 130hz/48oct and no high pass, with 13db LP 20hz/6db-oct boost.

Red is 2 LMS at 16ft, iTech power. 8000watts
Blue is 2 LMS at 10ft, Clone power. 4200watts
Green is both (quad LMS). 12200watts

No mains, no Dayton PA's, no 21's.
Note: My pre-amp starts rolling off at 6hz, and at 4hz its a brickwall.

Looks like I have some serious work to do.

Adding a 15ft delay to the iTech gives me this.

Green is previous.
Blue is normal.
Red is iTech inverted.

Looking better already.

Blue is previous. (4 subs) 12200watts
Red is with two 21's added. (6 Subs) 16400watts

Seems to have made it worse. LOL

Inverting one of the 21's gives me Red. (6 subs) 16400watts
With all car subs XO'ed @ 61hz/24oct and adding the quad Dayton PA's @ 56hz/24oct (and inverting one pair) gives me Blue. (10subs+mains) 30800watts

I think I can live with that.

Note: Adding the mains didn't change anything below 200hz (I probably could have guessed that: quad 7's vs ten 18's LOL)

What's up with the itech being louder than the clone? Thought you mentioned in another thread or somewhere that the clone beat it up?

Is it just placement?

Here's Beat Machine (33kW @ -12db below clipping).

I'm only keeping it that low out of consideration of my neighbors. How kind of me. haha
If my walls could actually stop 10 subs I'd have it at maximum of course. wink.gif

No I don't recall ever saying that. In fact I think I said the opposite (For the 10kQ).
The iTech brusts 4kW per channel, my 10kQ does 2.1kW per channel (though into 4 subs not just 2). So total power is about the same.

A FP14k should be able to beat the iTech though, by 800watts and 5hz deeper extension.

You probably did man I just thought for some reason you said the clone beat it even though it is rated higher.

I do remember you talking about the roll off compared to the clone and its not really that bad according to the graphs even though it is more power.

Looking good! biggrin.gif

Here's O'fortuna on 10 subs 33kW -20db below clipping. I love how effortless the bass is now. I'm retrieving MORE bass detail than ever before, even at levels -16db below where I had to have it before, with nearly the same dynamics.
All from just 3 extra subs added.

Above 16hz I'm now neighbor limited. I can't even use all the bass I have; and if I did, I'd probably lose my hearing. eek.gif

BTH, play this clip on your system, but then take a video of the sub. Unexpected bass, but nothing super low.

Here's 1812 Telarc Overture cannons with 33kW @ -30db from clipping.
Neighbor limited of course, LMS at about 1/16 excursion here. Don't want the whole block to feel the cannon fire. Or do we? LOL biggrin.gif

Of course we do. It was written to wake up sleeping dignitaries if I remember my music history class well enough. biggrin.gif

I'm playing mine at what I feel is realistic orchestra volume, but that takes about full excursions on my 8x NHT 1259s for the cannons (electronic ULF-boost in place).

You really should try the LMS 5400.

I just did some modeling in WinISD, your 8x NHT 1259 drivers taking a total of 42 cu ft max output is 102dB @ 10Hz w/o room gain.
That is equivalent to 4x LMS 5400 taking 16 cu ft using 1000W. The max output of the 4x LMS 5400 is 111dB @ 10Hz w/o room gain.

Nearly 1/3rd the volume and 9dB higher!!!eek.gif

I'll assume your calculations correct, not in the mood for imperial to metric convertions right now. Assume you mean volume of the boxes? - that's an uninteresting parameter for me. Two corner towers looks better than 4 smaller boxes.
Well, if I hadn't had 18dB of roomgain, that could have been an option. And I'm happy to stay at using 4x200W (NAD 218) amps for it. Room cannot handle the power I have today, so I don't need more. biggrin.gif

For cinema I'll be using even better woofersystem, that's rated 128dB continuous in-room @ 16Hz, so they'll be enough for me. Komorok, who dropped by a couple of posts above, have a 4 times bigger system with same drivers, the lucky lunatic. cool.gif

But I like looking at builds with LMS the same. smile.gif
