So I was watching Kung Fu Panda and during the Skadoosh, I got blasted by air from my Monitor 9s- which each have dual 8" woofers! While a little cheesy, it was pretty fun. For that scene a little breeze kind of makes sense anyway. I can only imagine what it would feel like if you got blasted by dual 4" ports from an 18" sub...

Kind of related, we were listening to my Grandma's Overnight Sensations (rear ported) and they were making the curtain dance behind. tongue.gif

With dual JTR Captivators, I could blow a paper bag over about 12ft away...

Here's are some videos I took a while back:

I had a temp ported box once, just for kicks I reduced the port size down to 1 square inch.... at 60mm xmech I was able to levitate an empty metal beer can 6 inches against it's gravitational-based terminal velocity.

It was fun for about 30minutes; and then the novelty wore off.

That's exactly why I love sealed subs more; the lack of port noise & port wind. wink.gif

On a related note, I wonder how ported many subwoofers have failed because of an accumulation of dust bunnies in the gap; we've all seen the insides of shop computers!!! eek.gif

Unfortunately my harddrive failed and I lost all my old videos, this was like 3-4 years ago; and the disk crash was 2-3 years ago.

I now run 3 redundant harddrives, but all my new videos are still on the non-redundant disk partitions (because I don't deem them critical/must-keep data).
Only whats on the camera's SD card, which only goes back 6 months or so.

I did record it and upload it to youtube biggrin.gif, but I deleted it from my account just weeks prior to the crash. mad.gif

So it's gone, gone and gone.

Here's a video of the air blast off my sealed subs.
It takes quite a bit more concentrated firepower because the "port" is much much bigger and not hermetically sealed into just one spot (to say the least) biggrin.gif

In this case: an Ultra 18 and two 21's in a "stonehenge-style" array eek.gif

and then there is the matterhorn, 40 15's if I recall correctly, start the video at 8:25-ish

See... there is no difference between a room with a door and sealed subs vs a really large ported box sub. It's the same thing you just need 40 15's and 40kW's. biggrin.gif
