the SP10 is a great woofer, very deep extension in a small box. If you want to go vented you will have to build a slot ported enclosure, as the port will need to be very long to reach a low tune in a smallish box. For example a 13.5" W x 24"H x 19"D box, with a slot port that is 12"W x 1.5"H x 38"L will end up as about 2.2ft3 tuned to 23hz, and capable of handling full power from a channel of the NU3000 with a 20hz high pass filter in place.

The port would need to be L shaped in order to reach the 38" length.

PR's would allow a much smaller box for the additional cost. A 16" cube with a pair of CSS APR 12s, each loaded with all of the provided mass discs (900g) would get you a 21hz tune with only a couple db less output below 30hz then the vented enclosure.

The SP10 models ok in my signature build, if the TS parameters are accurate. Not as well as some others, but well enough.

in a properly sized vented enclosure, 6-8db additional spl around the tuning frequency is not uncommmon and more is possible.

sealed box, 1.25 cubic feet, yellow.
ported box, 2 cubic feet, tuned to 27hz with a 4" diameter port that is 20" long, red.
both with no eq and 500 watts.

the ported enclosure would need a 2nd order high pass filter to protect the driver below the tuning frequency, but for the same wattage, you can pick up almost 12db around the tuning frequency. that is huge.

If you want big sonic brawl of movies in the low-end, go vented. Sealed just never cut it for me, unless of course, I went with multiples. You require at least 2 sealed cabs to match the output of one vented sub. Howver, there are exceptions like an LMS Ultra 18 with huge Xmax.

next to a properly powered re xxx 18, i don't really see much value in the sp10's.

here are two sp10's with 500 watts each in sealed cabs (red) and a single re xxx 18 (yellow) sealed with 2000 watts.

this is a model response and the actual has a kind of largish peak that might need to have some eq applied, but gives a rough idea of what you are working with.

the re xxx is 8-12db higher across the whole bass, so the contribution from the sp10's would be minimal even for smoothing spl unless you were to do something like put the sp10's right next to your seat.

Why not use tte Re XXX for both? Do you think that there is some sort of advantage to using smaller drivers for music? That is simply not the case, it's just that some people mistakenly believe that a pair of 10's will be faster than a pair of 15's or a pair of 18's

on the fabric, did you just fold it over at the top and the bottom for that clean look or is there another trick to it to get it to lay so smooth?
