Thinking of veneer my DiY subs and possibly building some waveguide speaker kits and veneering those. He anyone found decent veneer options in Toronto and/or online that ships to TO without ridiculous prices?

I've found the best is eBay. There's a seller from Quebec with great prices. It's raw wood though. If you want paper back there isn't much on eBay v

Don't have any experience with Veneer, is paper-backed easier to work with?

I prefer the two ply or NBL veneer over paper backed as it is better at hiding any imperfections in your cabinet joints. Paperback is or NBL better if you are trying to wrap it around a tight roundover or curve.
