Just get all your building supplies ready in the meantime. Erich shipped faster than I thought, probably about 7-10 days after I ordered. You'll be upset if you don't have everything you need when you go to build!

They're gone already. They don't last very long when listed. Hence the Elusive name

When crossover parts or drivers are out of stock, they become Elusive so they're taken down from the site. You just have to randomly check usually under home theater speakers.

The "Elusive" 1099 is like getting an assignment in Puerto Rico, if and when it comes up you have to know that it's up. Because by the time you look for it it's already gone.

Just type in 1099 in the search bar. When it's available it will pop up. Flat packs are coming as well it looks like

Tux you have got to be kidding me. How have you not tried to sell this design? I finally got two done and I am blown away. Best speaker I have ever heard and I have heard a ridiculous amount of very expensive speakers. Hell I own $3,000 Vienna Acoustics speakers and they are no match.

You my friend are one hell of a designer. Add me to the ridiculously happy owners of your wonderful design. Thank you so much.

Hey thanks. Really appreciate that. Unfortunately I'm a worse salesman than Earl Geddes I couldn't sell a perpetual motion machine to Research In Motion. When someone like Mark Seaton tells me these should be rated for 1000 watts and I say "no I'd say 400", I basically kill the salability.

And ultimately, its nice to share. Now you know why I get bent out of shape when people wanna make $ on the hard work of the SEOS people. I'm only an end user. Many more people made this all possible.

Tux you're right. A lot of work went into the SEOS waveguide and there are a lot of people to thank for that. Erich seems to be the person who really drove the project to completion. While reading the thread it would go all over the place and he brought it back to "hey let's get this done".

Of course Erich has invested so much of his time and resources to get the Elusive 1099 and many other designs in a one stop shop for first time DIYers like myself. I owe many people here on AVS a lot of thanks. People like that give me hope in humanity that doing something nice doesn't need monetary reward. A thank you and the smiles you see through posts make it rewarding enough.

Seriously you need to sell this design. I am sure some of the other designs are worthy as well. Shame a company couldn't be started to sell this great product.

Cheers everyone who made this happen. Words cannot describe my gratitude.

To anyone who is a future owner or on the fence about this speaker. Buy it as soon as you can. My biggest regret is not doing this sooner. If anyone has questions about my build pertaining to your buildn I'll help as much as possible.

The crossover is the hard part (especially with a flat pack coming from Erich). I can usually walk people through reading the print and what it means in real life. I'll do my best to help the community as I think this is truly the only way to go for great sound.

That's just kinda painful to read sir.

First sentence: The design was sold....you bought it.

Second sentence: Yes, the other designs are also very good.

Third sentence: That would have cost you a lot more for the same thing. Instead, save the money and/or donate something to a charity. That idea has obviously been thought of many times even before the 1099. But it still would not change how the DIY portion is handled.

I guess the reason I would like to see a few of you form a company is so many people will never DIY. They are missing out on great speakers. The DIY portion could remain the same, but pre-built models could do very well as a separate entity.

I am happy it is the way it is. I just think the SEOS speakers would do very well as a business venture. It will be hard to read the commercial speaker thread now as I know there are FAR better options for much less.

How deep are the 1099 cabinets suppose to be? The flat packs I had made up are 14.5" deep with the baffle. I got that number from somewhere but wanted to double check if that was correct. They can be easily cut shallower if anyone had to do that.

Also, did anyone redraw the schematic with the correct parts? If so, I can post that on the site so people can download it.

Tux, you have designed the speaker with 'the most questions asked' in the history of DIY speakers!

That works. Shallower is fine also. The confusion comes from me saying a varying amount of volume is ok because it just changes the bass a bit. I just built a pair that were 12.5" deep total, single baffle.

I can't remember who, but someone said they were gonna do that, so I didn't ever do it. Never happened I guess. Do you have the BOM I gave you? I can do that today if I can get a list of parts. I don't have it on me as I'm away.

That's what happens when I keep changing things and giving out different dimensions to different people for different rooms. Just gets confusing.

This was the final parts list you sent me:

4.5mh 18 gauge iron core inductor

33uf capacitor

27uf capacitor

1.0mh 18 gaugeiron core inductor

.33mh 18 gauge air core inductor

2.0mh 18 gauge iron core inductor

25uf capacitor

.56uf capacitor

1 ohm 10 watt resistor

2 ohm 10 watt resistor

3 ohm 10 watt resistor

6.2uf capacitor

.50mh 20 gauge air core inductor

In the past I have had to order Mills resistors if the regular ones are not in stock. On the current ones, the Dayton 27uf cap was out of stock and the PE site said they weren't going to be in for a month. So I had to order the Jantzen 27uf cap instead. Like $4 more. But I just checked and PE is showing the cheaper Dayton's back in stock since earlier in the week. Bummer.

10-99 flat packs are available.

Erich...does this pack include only the 4 sides, back, and two internal "dividers"? Are the panels "dadoed" akin to the sealed sub flat packs?

Ha, sorry, not an update XO. And updated XO schematic The schematic I gave to Erich was a hand drawn one with slightly different values than what were included in the kit. I've now updated it to have a cleaner look and the right values on there. No changes for anyone with 1099s. Everything is the same.
