I just added an FAQ to the OP. If there are any FAQs I might have missed, please remind me and I'll add it.

Tux, the FAQ looks great and I like the tongue-in-cheek approach. It should help out lots of folks who all have the same type questions.

Tux, what were you told the speakers should be rated at.....power wise? I'll make the changes to the site. Also, what's the crossover from woofers to mids?

Huh? I said 400 watts I think. Or do you mean what other people thought it should be? If this were a speaker manufacturer they'd probably say 750 program and 1500 peak.

Erich, do you have any time frame for the next availability for the 1099? (I check the site daily!) Also, will assembled XO be in the future?

Tux,

Great FAQ. I've seen ones ask how much power is needed to properly drive these. Or if a separate amp is needed.

I am personally going to run them off my Denon 4311, which supposedly has 140 watts RMS per channel.

It might go a little longer this time around. I need to check to see if all that parts are available at Parts Express.

I might have an interesting update on the 1099 later in the week.

Hey Tux, how far fetched would a 1599 version be with the new seos-15 and dual 15'' woofers? Im just thinking big here, I will have lots of room behind my screen, I would love to have a sort of wall of speakers!

Well, there's some problems I'd predict with large mids like that. But Jeff Bagby seemed to find it ok on the Cinema 88. Just take a Cinema 88, buy two 15" woofers and put them above and below. Use a minidsp to cross at 250hz. Bam. Done. Not really optomized, but would rock pretty hard

I did make the stands, and yes it does have a lip on it. I modeled it after my Ascend 340 stands.

Nice. I like it a lot. I'm still not sure what I am going to do. Build towers, stands, or sub stands.

You dudes should relax!
With Robert Jones's newly formed crossover layout and wiring diagrams, the crossovers should not be that big a deal. Sure, pre-assembled ones would reduce the fear for some and allow entry for others holding off, but this is DIY! Just my opinion. Perhaps I take some things for granted though because I've been soldering since I was 12 and spent many years as an electronic technician. 👍

Yeah that would help. How about I give you a sketchup test on advanced modelling skills with just a handout of commands ?
It's about confidence.

I was just kidding. But I would have surely bought assembled x-overs. I can solder, but I'm a hack. I waste a lot of solder. I just have to be patient, get the wires hot enough and let the solder suck in and stop.

I did my Fusion 8's so I should be okay with these.

Watch a bunch of YouTube videos and then practice on scrap wire first to get the feel for it. Don't learn how to solder on your xo!

No, I understand. I certainly meant no offense. It is about confidence and I suppose a basic knowledge of soldering and how that works definitely helps. I've never even tried sketchup, so no arguments there. When the time comes though, I will be going through all of your video lessons for it!
You are some handy guys though, and I think you'll be successful when you just take some time and step your way through it.
Just like you with the videos, I'm happy to offer any support with the crossovers. Hell, I'd even build some if someone was willing to wait a few weeks.

Just poking fun at u. I am the type who doesn't like puzzles with electronics. When I hooked up my first diy sub and it didn't work I blew a gasket. Just the way I'm wired. I like things to work.

Getting so excited to hook up speaker and if 1099 doesn't work i would stress out.

This is why I love woodwork and sketchup. Do it right and it works. Make a mistake and it's obvious. With electronics and automotive repair it's a process of elimination. Some like that stuff, others hate it.

Tux will make my first xo for me. Then I will take good pics and with Roberts diagram I can do the second and third.

Then I will be confident.

Matt did my boards and they look beautiful. I'm glad I placed that portion of the build in more skilled hands. I could see a lot of areas to screw up. Your plan is sound IMO Donny.
