I am going to try an 18" RE XXX in a sealed box, and will possibly add a second later. I already EQ my current subs with an Velo SMS-1. I am amp shopping right now and was considering the inuke 3000 or 6000. Both seem to have a decent following with the fan mod. My main question is should I go with the standard or DSP version?
Thanks for the help! Also looking to buy 1 or 2 18" heavy duty cabinets if anyone has something lying around.
Thanks for your time!
I would go with the iNuke 3000dsp and get rid of the SMS-1. Fewer cables to mess with since you won't be needing the SMS-1 plus you could sell the SMS-1 and recoup some of the cost of the iNuke3000dsp!
measurements for both can be found at data-bass.com if you aren't already familiar with the site.
if going forward with the xxx sealed, shoot for a large cab, as that will really increase the low end sensitivity, which is the xxx's wheelhouse.
a 6 cubic footer will get you roughly 113db at 20hz 2pi space (in model), while a 12 cubic footer will get you roughly 116db at 20hz on 2200 watts power.
So, are you saying the iNuke6000 wouldn't be enough power for the RE? I was looking at 5-6 cubic foot for the cabinet anyhow, so I guess I will go with 6. I was going to add another RE when I came across another deal. I already got 1 XXX sub and got a great deal on it, but I am sure I could sell it and get a couple of UXL's.
Looking through data-base it seems they only tested the XXX in a 4.5 cubic foot cabinet, so how much difference would a 6cube box do? I see what you mean though, a couple of the uxl (which looks like it gets pretty close) would do better overall than 1 xxx (I did get it cheaper than the UXL however).
THANKS!! I appreciate the you taking the time to run and post that! I may even try an 8 cube box, I just read an interesting article about. I will have to try the software, I just haven't been that adventurous yet....still learning!
Well, not to cloud the water, but I know iNuke 6000 has inflated RMS figures, would it be enough to run 2 of the eventually or would a Crown XLS2500 Drivecore or something similar be a better choice?
Limit is $700 on the amp.....thanks again everyone!
The Peavey IPR2 7500 seems to have some juice too decent juice in the same configuration (running 1 of 2 channels, at 4 ohm) and allows a second at near the same power as well.. Learning get's so frustrating, there is so much to read and so many opinions!
