Yup. That sounds right and what I was saying.

Have you thought about what you want to use instead? The fact that you have high expectations for performance and the need for the lower Qts/Qes driver limits things to the ...pricier items.

For you I'd take some serious thought in the UXL's and then the next big jump to the LMS-U. Ouch.

That or lots and lots of other small, cheaper drivers.

Hmmm.

EDIT: And the 24's are not going to work for you cuz they have T/S similar to the IB's if just a smidge lower in Qes compared to the Fi's.

EDIT2: It was also hinted that the Stereo Integrity HST-18 will be available to the public. Not sure but it was hinted. That would also be an excellent choice and it might be priced somewhere between the UXL and the LMS-U.

What about the SI-18HT? 8 XXX's would work!

If eight IB18's don't work I don't see how eight XXX's will work. They have high Qts/Qes that makes them suitable for infinite baffle and not much else than gargantuan enclosures. Or stay sealed with them but it sounds like you have gone back to a resonant alignment.

If you're going to do SI HT18's then maybe get twelve or more.

James, maybe just wait a little bit. Get those low tuned enclosures installed up close and then (imho) seal up the front again. That should do it for ya, I think.
Pain Infliction likes this.

Winisd sims the FI in a 64 cubic foot enclosure per driver and the RE XXX in a 24 cubic foot driver. I have 178 cubes. I am going forward with the 11hz tuned near field sub either way. How would 12 SI -18's be? I modeled the SI 18's as well with 8 drivers and it would have a .5 Q but the low end would very sensitive. My mid bass is great so I want low end bias.

I was playing some music on my four IB18's in the basement last night....running off a pair of Crown XLS1500's. The bass to the rear was a lot stronger than the seating position in front. They're mounted in a baffle in the wall that's about 18ft from the back of the house (2/3 underground and a poured foundation). I've played with phase and it still seems stronger elsewhere but not at the seating position. Clearly, some standing waves going on.

Any suggestions? I've been holding off buying a mic as I've got an Emotiva XMC-1 with Dirac on order.

Definitely buy a Mic. If you bought the XMC-1 then you can surely afford a Umik or other Mic.

my point is that I don't need two...the XMC-1 comes with a quality mic. I'm just waiting to get it....might be a bit until they fulfill all order.

It will only work if it does not need calibration. If it has cal files you need to load them up to whatever software you use.
