Anybody tried this yet? I saw from Dattabass that Ricci said these would work up to 350/400hz. Since my SI subs sit right under my mains, I am going to wire it up and try it out. Going to try 40hz with SI-18 crossed to TD12M at 200 or 300hz. TD12M will go from there to 1,200hz and DNA-360 from 1,200hz up. I have the wires built and the crossover in place. Just need to pull out the subs and connect them to different jacks, I have in the room. Hopefully I can get to it tonight. Have to drop my daughter off at school today. She is starting her freshman year at college.

Added
Ordered TD18H drivers to put in my bass bins.

"Hopefully I can get to it tonight. Have to drop my daughter off at school today. She is starting her freshman year at college."

big day.

the td12m probably kills them on vocals though which come in around 150-200hz, so that's about where i'd shoot to cross them.

Listen. It's All Good.

The TD12M are just so much better that it was a big step down. Did not cost me anything to try, other than time.

Yes, I'm very interested as well!

Lol, I had joked with Archaea that I would try something like this since I have about four of these SI 18's per LCR channel but I ended up building DO enclosures so that's not that great an idea now. tongue.gif Maybe some day.

I've never had success going above 200hz to "car" subs, and that's with a serious amount of other subs supporting those subs.

I have quad 18" Dayton kickbins that I cross from 35hz to about ~1khz, it works well but it's really really tricky to configure with good results.

Currently my subs come in between 80 to 200hz.
With the 3-way SEOS's I'm planning, I "should" be able to drop all subs in no higher than 100hz as I will finally have enough displacement and sensitivity above that with the Cel 15's

Well since I already had the subs right under my mains, I just used them where they were. I ran the signal (RCA) out of my Denon 4311, XLR to the crossover. Selected crossover frequency, and fed one amp channel (300 watts) to feed the TD12m/SEOS-12/DNA-360. Used the low end output of the crossover to feed another amp (1,000 watts) for the SI-18 bass bin. Used SPL meter to set levels. Used AVR to set the crossover to 40hz and tried full range. Tried them as high as 400hz. As subs, the SI-18's are fine, but as a woofer in a three way, they just did not have the sound quality the TD12M has. I could have done more, using PEQ, but it was just to far off, that I did not see it worth more effort.

The Mal-X 18" sits under the center. I have wall to wall subs up front now. Going to move the two SI-18's to the back of the room right behind the seats in a duo opposed box. Heck with music turned up a little bit it already felt like the chairs had a built in massager in them. This should be fun. smile.gif Have to save some of my money for the masking system and new projector this fall.

Does Erich have a duo opposed box for SI-18"s? Did not see one listed. I guess I will have to find the time to build my own.

They're just around the corner from being made I think, there was just a big start-up cost because he has to get like 50 or 100 CNC'd at once.

Did not go Apollo. I also have a MiniDSP 10x10HD, so really did not need the DSP in the Amp, but decided to get it just in case. I also had a 20% off code given to me from an earlier purchase that I was able to use for the 6000DSP.

I have an extra relay box already built for remote trigger. Just need to add another 20 amp circuit. That will give me five 20 amp circuits for the HT.

So let me get this straight, are you going to be using the TD18h woofers for mid-bass duties? If so, where do you plan on crossing it to the SI18's and your TD12's that are in your Seos mains?

What type of enclosure do you plan on using these TD18h woofers in? Sealed? Ported? Hight/width/depth?

Man oh man how I wish that I could afford to buy some of those TD18's to use as my mid-bass drivers! I start a new job on Monday so hopefully I will be able to make some sales and eventually get then!

I'm convinced one cannot do any better than TD motored mid-bass, without question.

Congrats on the new job, seriously, best of luck!

They are about 4CF sealed boxes. I was using them with my SI-18's. I still need to build a duo opposed box (pieces all cut out) for the SI 18's. Have not had time to do anything with the TD18's other install in the boxes and set crossover slopes.

Definitely keep us posted! I am very interested to see how this turns out! Can you clarify what frequencies you are planning to cross these over at?

As subs, the SI-18's are fine, but as a woofer in a three way, they just did not have the sound quality the TD12M has. I could have done more, using PEQ, but it was just to far off, that I did not see it worth more effort."

just to go back a bit. you experimented with the si18's with lots of different crossover points. obviously, when crossed over high, you weren't happy.

however, you also said that "as subs, they are fine". was there a crossover point, such as 40hz or 60hz, where you thought that they were just as good in quality, but then determined that crossover point was too low for the amount of headroom from a 12" driver?

Listen. It's All Good.

Finished the dual opposed box for the SI-18's today, but have not been able to listen to them yet. Have to pull another run of speaker wire for the sub. I am also installing rear surrounds speakers. Have them in place, but have to pull wire for them also. This takes a little bit of work, since my rack in in the mechanical room below. I have also installed a masking system on my curved screen and have a slide to install for my lens.

Dual opposed SI-18's in 8.0 CF sealed.

Curved AT screen with masking system.

Just looking to add a little mid bass punch, so looking to run some 18's higher than 80hz. Did not like what I heard, when running the SI-18's above 100 HZ.
