And yeah this weekly "noise battle" already has me on the verge of puking.

James

The Titans were 3-1 when they played the chiefs. The Cowboys were 1-0.

Of course...the Broncos have had the exact same "strength of schedule" and their opponents are 11-25 combined as well....so if that means a team is over rated, then your Broncos are...over rated...

I agree that the chiefs aren't as good as their record shows. I think the Broncos will beat them. I think the raiders might beat them in Oakland. I think Indy will beat them. I also think Houston has a chance this weekend.

GOOOOO NINERS!

That picture is from CenturyLink Field in Seattle and 3M provided ear plugs for Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Come on . . . get it right! tongue.gif

Another quote from the game:
Quote:
It was “ground-shaking loud,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, and receiver Dexter McCluster swore he felt his helmet rattling. Len Dawson, who has been attached to the Chiefs either as their quarterback or broadcaster for most of their 50-year existence, had “never heard it like that before here in Kansas City.” Cornerback Dunta Robinson felt energy unlike he’d ever experienced surge through his body.

Carp, reach out to Philip and invite him over to your place. If you can get him to confirm, I'll make it a point to overnight you my FP10KQ. Have your LCR Noesis 3 feet from your couch...ready and waiting for him. Give him a 137db blast. Please be sure to record it for official documentation pursposes as you will hold the record for "First person to ever make a Guiness World Record staff member $hat themselves."

Sounds like a pretegious title if you ask me. Should come with a plaque as well.

My god that would hurt so bad!!

Tomorrow at an outdoor GTG we plan on powering up the Noesis with some real watts and turning it up to 11, this may be the first time I'll actually see the drivers move. I plan on being a hell of a lot further away than 1 meter!! smile.gif

I can confirm Century Link will leave your ears ringing even with plugs in. You'll also be hoarse if you're a Seahawks fan. So much fun, but it does drain you.

Who is bringing the extreme zoom camcorder?

Comfortable listening levels at what? Choose your poison:

1m = 134
2m = 128
4m = 122
8m = 116
16m = 108
32m = 102
64m = 96
128m = 90

Yeah 90db from a little under 1 and 1/2 football fields sounds comfortable to me.

Yeah that could be the problem, I don't think we have a fancy schmancy one. Jonathan said he has something that could work ok, so we'll see.

Damn... they beat us by .1 db.

In other news a fan was killed at Arrowhead during or after the Broncos game. Word is some of these stadiums are beyond out of control and not a place to take the family anymore. I really don't care because I much prefer watching the games on the projector and recording them on the dvr so I don't have to watch commercials.

Wow! Didn't hear that about Arrowhead, how sad. I gave up my Bears tickets 4 years ago because I couldn't take the crowd at the games anymore. Too many drunk idiots that ruined the game for me. Plus I have a 104 inch screen at home, comfortable chairs, cheaper beer and as Carp said, a dvr so I don't miss anything.

Hmm, I heard it was not really related to the game (encouraging). Heard it was someone breaking into another's vehicle when the owner of said vehicle returned. Suspect died without signs of significant physical struggle.

Truthfully the NFL is going to have a real problem on their hands with attendance at the games soon. With HD and things like redzone less and less people are going to games anymore. Of course there will always be people to go, but I know I can't justify spending that kind of cash on tickets anymore especially with having a kick a$$ theatre room to watch on the games in the comfort of my theatre seats.

Of course the teams get some much money in revenue because of the TV's contracts that they literally could have empty stadiums and they would still make money.

The guy that died was a friend of a friend - I never met him. He died of a traumatic brain injury resulting from the back his head hitting the pavement. Nobody knows for sure, but they think he had a few beers and left the game to sleep it off in his friend's truck - climbed in the other guy's by mistake since it was the exact same.

We don't go to the games anymore. We can buy a keg of good beer and a steak dinner for 20 friends and watch it at the house for what it costs for 2 tickets, parking, and a few rounds of $9 beers at the stadium.

Sorry to hear he was part of your circle of friends Doug. It's all very unfortunate and tragic.

Amen to that. We have a sports divided family, Cowboys (her side) and Chiefs (mine) so it's always a great time with family and friends. Everyone brings a dish, it's fun and inexpensive. We do get to go to one or two preseason games a year, but it's in the club level. Even there the crowd is not immune to some jerk getting in a fight...Grey Poupon goes flying! tongue.gif

Small world. I just found out today that a close friend I teach with's children attend the school where the wife of the man that died works as the school counselor and has a 7 month old baby. Awful...

I missed an update! The record was broken again by the Kansas City Chiefs on September 29, 2014. It is now at 142.2 dB! It doesn't look like I can edit the title now that we are on different forum software.

What the %$^*! That's just plain loud.
They maxed out the meter. It's only rated for 140db RMS, 143db peak.
They now need a meter that goes even louder somehow. But I'm not sure what that would even be!

lukeamdman got them beat, 145db @ 20hz (if you stick your head inside the Ghorn). But that's Zpeak (bass) not Apeak (treble).

We need to step up our game. Two Othorn's throats fired into each other @ 100hz powered by two bridged K20's time!

That's basically 3 212's placed side-by-side powered by two FP14k's at almost full power @ 3ft.

If someone wants to give it a try, I'd be willing to aim all 7 of my SEOS's at a persons head @ 1ft, and crank it to the point where the tweeters reach audible distress. But I guarantee you'll never hear another sound for the rest of your life cause you'll be 110% deaf. hehe

Uhg...those DB levels at 100hz would hurt so bad...

I don't think 145db at 100hz from a single Othorn would be that hard with the SPL meter really close. At 6 meters outdoors it was 135db+, which is over 140 at 3 meters. In the throat...holy cow...

142.2dbA pink-noise 300-6khz, centered at 1khz, is seriously serious.

Anyone without plugs probably had blood coming out of their ears. I can't see how they couldn't have.
How many people got medically injured by this? That's what I want to know!

I think guinness may give up since they've reached the limit of their meter; unless they are gonna pay for a specially-modified version of it. I think this record will hold for a long long time for that reason alone.
