Hey guys wondering if the QSC EX1600 would make a good sub amp to run some Dayton 18 HO's ???? Got a buddy who buys storage lockers and found 10 of these along with some EX2500's and bunch of other stuff. Just wondering how these would do for my 18's. Thanks

I would use a bridged EX1600 for each 18. You might be able to get by with a pair of 18's on a EX2500. These are quality old-school "lead-sleds" but are getting quite old now (potential capacitor issues). Depending on the condition, I wouldn't pay more than $150-200 for the 1600 and maybe $200-250 (at the very most) for the 2500's.

Cool deal. I am able to get them for $150.00 each. Also he has 4 of them that only one channel works. He wants $100.00 for all four of them. Would they be worth fixing???

Does anybody know if the EX1600 has been bench tested. Curious to see if the bridge output in 4 ohms is close to advertised.

Is it the same one channel working on all four of them? If so, it’s possible they’ve been switched to bridged-mono mode. There are dip switches behind the barrier strip inputs – refer to the manual for the bridged settings. If you can get a peak at the switches and verify they’re set for bridged, both channels are probably good and you can get a deal on those four amps if the seller is none the wiser.

QSC's specs are generally reliable.

Iam not sure about if it's the same channel or not. I will be looking at them on Sunday. If it turns out that they indeed do have one channel out are they worth buying all 4 to have repaired???

Even if you were to get the broken amps for $25 each, the cost of shipping them to a a tech center, the tech fees, and parts could easily run a few hundred dollars each. Is it worth it for some old (but solid) amps - only you can answer that. Given the cost of new class d amps (for sub use), I don't know that I would go that direction.

Right on iam going to look at them on Sunday and then make the call. Hopefully they are just in bridge mode. He had mentioned something about a protection circuit card that needed to be replaced on them.

He does have 8 of them that work well. He wants 150.00 each. Being that they are old amps would they last for sub duty?? I only use the subs when we watch a movie maybe twice a week any other time they will be off.
