Yes the box plus driver looks very compact. Would be hard to tell the difference between this and the Ftw 21 at first glance. At least until you turn it on.

Hi Donivan. Thank you very much again for purchasing my subs. I'm down in spl right now but hopefully I'll be back in the saddle when I purchase a second SI 24 early next year. I hope you are enjoying the FTW 21s. They are superb HT drivers.

Yep. He'd prefer it flew out the window. lol. I tell ya, I love bass as much as the next guy (2 SI-18s), but at what point does your long-term hearing become a consideration?

For me it's not about wanting to have louder bass that you can hear, it's wanting more very low bass that you mostly just feel - not hear - so I understand where he is coming from.

Not criticizing his choices--more power to him. But I think I remember seeing the FR from his room and it was CRAAAZY hot. lol. Once you're in the 5 star category and seeing no compression past reference with such a hot LFE response.......but that's just me.

I know the feeling. In a year and a half I went up the sub ladder pretty good. And I suspect that in a new house/bigger room I'd need more. But he has a FR that rises 18 dbs from 70-7 hz!! eek.gifeek.gif I just have to laugh writing that. LMAO. Crazy. I'm envious, no doubt. Doubt my room would be able to handle that, but envious nonetheless.

I don't know, I find bass to be the more comfortable part of the spectrum. It's bright mids/highs that'll run me out of the room and have the ears ringing.

Lmao but I am now legally deaf from bass. I know its not truly funny but it was what I enjoyed when I was a teen. I literally spent hundreds of hours riding around listening to my stereo in the blazer. It produced over 155db down to 35ish hz on the dash, louder up in mid 40hz range where a lot of music bass is produced.

All that said I still enjoy damaging my ears in the HT every now and then. Just an addiction.

So AVH,
With that being said you know why I'm selling them...
I have a sickness that needs to be treated with the right medicine.
The medicine I was told (After doing 1000's of hours research) to buy to treat my (Special) sickness goes by the codename (name given by Bassaholics anonymous) "SI24" wink.gif

I hope nothing happens to my ears...but I can't get enough of the low end! I love it!
I can hear an ant cross the street. Been blasting music since very young. Am 50 now and still love it!

I DON'T blast hours at a time but I can take it no problem!
My friends get nausea after a few minutes...I don't !

Again...just want the deep stuff...it's soo easy to handle for me anyways.

Anyways, I'm asking an inflated price and want to sell locally.
I have no problem if they don't sell either.

Long time no hear from you...how's your 10x 21's doing?

Lol. Very true.

When I saw that you were selling yours I looked in the classifieds for a possible explanation and saw someone selling 8 ftws directly from manufacturer as they were preordered before the guy found out he had to relocate for work.

Did some more listening tonight at my best friend's home in San Antonio. New neighborhood so he does not have any neighbors at this time. Started the night off with more music with such songs as Dion Warwick Walk on by, El Debarge Lay With You, Denise Williams Silly, and Kenny G/Chante Moore One Moore Time. The SI 24 easily blends in with my mains while adding deep, precise bass.

Bass is tantalizing smooth. Adds so much depth and controlled thunder to my setup while at the same time not drawing attention to itself by overwhelming the mids and highs.

For the movie lovers I watched Pacific Rim. Connected the driver to one channel of my friend's Ipr2-7500 for added fun tonight. We were tickling the spl meter at 127 db. My ears were ringing and my stomach felt like I was going to go number 2 on myself. Bass was all enveloping, room crushing, and just plain awesome. Ultra deep rumbling, vicious low end grunt when called for, aggresive and thunderous strikes which dissapear as quickly as they hit with no sound decay or lingering. This sub definitely sounds like its digging deeper and nastier down the audio spectrum with movies than my Ftw 21s did with tighter more precise bass.

The FTW 21s bass sounded like a heavy meat cleaver when they would really hit which I love for movies but it just would not blend well for music. The SI 24's bass is like a hammer. Heavy and precise. I always said I would never, ever pay LMS 5400 money($800 and up) for one driver unless it was capable of high spl, reasonably low distortion, and precise articulation. The SI 24 is a homerun with all of the aforementioned criteria in my opinion.

Do you have any baseline measurements of the FTW21 and the SI24? I'd love to see the raw response of each to help me put your subjective impressions into context.

Also, you said you did some listening at your friends house... Is this his sub, or did you packed it up for a quick road trip?

Did you guys have a DSP in the mix to compensate for the lowend roll?

Very promising stuff, just asking these questions to help paint the full picture.

I'm nearly finished my pair of FTW-21's and I'm expecting them to blow me away, but hearing how they don't blend as well as the 24" with music, sounds strange.
It's true the 24" should beat them in low bass (they are 3 inches larger and have similar xmax), but I'd expect them to be quite similar in the mid-bass.
The FTW's use a lot of similar parts as the UXL, and the UXL has decent inductance management and a similar (same?) motor, so I'd expect it to be reasonably flat...

Too many unknowns for me to say anything, especially since both the 21's and the 24's haven't been "officially" tested on Data-bass.
Speaking of that, who's going to volunteer theirs? wink.gif I'd love to but there's no way I'm sending one from Canada frown.gif

I'd really love to hear more impressions as well.

The FTW 21s are far from muddy with music. I would give them at least a B grade for music. Their midbass is just not as tight as other subs Ive heard. I feel they are a primarily HT driver which excels at digging deep with authority below 25hz. They will wow you in HT. That is for sure.
