Fatshaft,

see this side picture of the Fusion 8, you should be able to cut the 1.5 inches you want off without issue. just make sure you trim down the rib rupports as well

hummm, I've seen the distortion results first had between the Mal-x 21 and the LMS (along with a few other drivers) and the mal-x 21's results were actually a bit better then the LMS.....

Here's what the graph looks like un-eq'ed vs eq'ed at the LP. The differences were the corrections I had to make.

and near field:

Red is Un-Eq'ed

Red is great if you live in an anechoic chamber and listening at 3 ft away where there is no air absorption, but in my room I had to apply some boost to make it flat out at the LP (10ft away).
I don't ever recall having to do that with the B&W's, maybe because the B&W's are out-of the-box brighter up top (all the way to 30khz) and also have more reflections off the side-walls from the non-directivity.... or something? (I don't know.) confused.gif

I'm pretty sure the B&W's would not be this flat if I measured them, but now you have me curious. tongue.gif

But to me, the above green plot was the $4900 difference in sound, and the red's rolloff was probably what my ears where hearing and disliking.

BassThatHz, you might have too much acoustic treatment in your room.

You don't recall doing that to the B&W's......maybe because they weren't in the same room set up.

Quick question

Added flatpacks and the fushion 8 to the cart and noticed that the xover parts are included in the kit.
If I wanted the assembled xover kit...does ERICH remove the xover parts from the kits and deduct the price of them?
or would I be getting 2 crossover kits if I add the assembled xover kits to the cart.
Sorry just confused a little

thanks

OK Done...
Just placed the order for 4x complete Fushion-8 kits.
Will be doing some serious graphing before and after.

Look forward to this new project...it's been a long time coming.
Next for sure is the 1099's and look more forward to that then these F-8's

They will be replacing the speakers that are in the columns.they are ALL 7' from the MLP.
I know, I know...room is NOT finished...doing and trying all kinds of tests to improve FR with all the insulation you see there.
Once I know the sweetspots I will be building acoustic panels and it will look killer!

I'd be worried about dying of lung cancer or something, every thump of the subwoofer you'd eat 1/4 lb of fluffy. wink.gif

If you have this much absorption throughout the rest of that room then you'd have double the absorption that I do, for sure.

I am curious about this! What are the results between lms and ftw if have the numbers as well?

I can't hear any distortion up to 140+db with mal and ftw so just curious. I've been in the ultra high sub db club for 20 years or so and my ht has as clean bass as my best auto setup with over 155db on dash and way higher db in chamber in the back.

Looking forward to your builds man! Gonna really enjoy mains and surrounds that are capable of playing with your subs.

I don't know what all the talk about 20khz and up being eqed is about but I personally can't hear anywhere near that high and doubt my dog can either.

Seriously, lots of health hazards in that room. Wow.

AVH,
How's it going?
Hope all is well...
Did you finish up your HT Room?
Any new things since your 10x 21's and 4x FP10000Q?

Ya I really need to change all my speakers (not my subs). They suk the bag but they sound pretty reasonable!
Really am not sure what to expect with the SEOS family of speakers...I never heard any of'em ever before.
Heck, I never heard a horn before and it does worry me a little.

Stay in touch

Regards,

PS. Taking down all the pink stuff today and throwing in the garbage!
Will post a before and after graph

Thanks for the warning! Never thought it would do anything just laying there not moving! eek.gif

I'm sure I don't have the popular opinion, but I don't worry about that stuff. It's not like it has asbestos in it. If you were on an Insulation forum, they'd be telling you to take down the speakers and keep the insulation.

At least put that stuff in the attic with the other insulation. I wouldn't throw it away.

Well here it is.
Red is with Insulation
Blue is with insulation removed!
Interesting!

Increase in DB even in the ULF region...really?
It would make that big a difference?
