This makes me want to downsize to UM-15's just to get them ordered and my project started... but I really want the 18's. I'd need more than 2 drivers to equal the output from 2 of the 18" variety, and when you do the math it ends up being more expensive that way.

What to do, what to do.

At least you know that you'll get them before the UM18-22's are ready tongue.gif

After the last email I received, I don't know if UXL's will arrive before UM's.  Now I'm scrambling...................and it seems late April or early May for the UXL's.  I'm at my wits end...............about ready to get rid of my four!

These are made in China? How would 4 of these do compared to 2 LMS 5400 ultras?

Why would you even make this comparison? I'm sure someone considering dropping 2grand on two drivers would even think about buying the UM18. You could almost have 8 UM18's for the price of two LMS-U's.

sighhhhhhh

A friend of mine just bought two LMS-5400 from parts express. They arrived at his house 3 days after purchasing them, and he is enamored by them. He has the same cabinets as me, and the LMS-5400 are a gorgeous sub in the black wood veneer cabinets. But I could buy 12 of these ultimax for less than the price of four LMS 5400...that is...if I could buy them. tongue.gif

Ben, you need to sell your HSU ULS-15 and buy the LMS-5400. cool.gif Since you are only buying one it is more palatable than buying four!

Well I have two UM18 on order.
If I was going to spring for the LMS subs I would get the LMS-R 15" instead of the LMS-5400 Ultra..... but they are cost prohibitive still.
But now I am thinking maybe one SI-24 instead and extend the enclosure through the wall into the closet behind..... but then I have to re-brace the stairs, which I don't want to do.

So in the last 3 weeks we've gone from 4/30 to 5/22 to 6/12.

At this rate by June the release date will be sometime in December.

I'm officially pulling the plug on the waiting game for this driver and will go with something else. I've been trying to avoid the UXL-18 price tag but may end up giving in later this month.

yeah that's pretty disappointing. I just checked it earlier today and it still said 5-22-14. Now 6-12. Rory...can you shed any light on some realistic expectations here?

Ben, since you don't already have cabinets made --- the SI 24" is pretty darn cool

Oh geez! I was just looking now and yup, now it is 6/12.

Bear in mind that they are at the mercy of their supplier. No, it's not fun but it's not like Dayton/PE is doing this intentionally and the only reason people are still waiting is because it has saved you from receiving a product that may fail with use. There were issues with the robustness of the adhesive in the proximity of the triple joint, if I'm not mistaken. I'd rather wait for a reliable product than get one earlier that I may have to send right back. F**k that! tongue.gif

But... I really do feel for you guys that have been on the fence or simply waiting from the beginning. It's been some push and pull but seriously it's only two months from now. That's not that long. wink.gif Just pretend it was announced today and then it's like you only had to wait two months. tongue.gifbiggrin.gif

except.........Scott

Not to be too dismal - -- -

Remember back in mid November when you and I had some long PM exchanges about these drivers....and I ordered them back in mid November anticipating their January release date....January was my anticipated two month wait. tongue.gif Not June.

It's not that big of a deal...and you are right...I'd rather have a functional product than a defective one...but if Rory came on here and said really we have no clue when these are going to come in and we are just delaying it a month at a time while we get that timetable sorted out - then that's something different and that type of commentary would help our decisions. I'm all for waiting, as long as it's a legitimate expectation of shipment date. If it's really to be June now - fine...I'm still in. It'd just be nice to know if this is stringing along or real expected release dates???

FWIW - I'm really glad we haven't been charged for these until they ship... That at least is nice.

That's the thing though - it won't be 2 months. The best indicator of the future is the past, and based on the repeated delays already one can only assume more delays are to follow. 3 weeks ago the wait was supposed to be 6 more weeks. Now 3 weeks later the wait is another 8-9 weeks. I have no problem running a long distance as long as there is indeed a finish line in sight. Having the finish line moved farther away every time you get close though is just a drag.

I'd much rather they post the release date as something 4-5 months out. Call it 9/30/14. If the drivers are ready before then great, they over deliver and exceed expectations. Of course that will cause more potential customers to jump ship though in the meantime and they may wind up losing some sales, so I get why they wouldn't do that.

Unfortunately situation for all parties involved is the bottom line.

Aaaahh...the UXL18 Group Buy...those were the days...biggrin.gif
