Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, if so sorry, but Dayton is releasing the 18" Ultimax.

I wonder if the 22mm spec is just the overhang and that usable may end up near 30mm or so....more moving mass than an lms ultra 18 raises an eyebrow. we'll see where the production specs come in...

Listen. It's All Good.

Agreed. It would be absolutely killer if this thing specs out like that in reality. Not saying they're fibbing, but it would be quite an accomplishment if this even fell in between the HO18 and the LMS for this price. I know a certain psychopath that will have quite a few of them if they do biggrin.gif

Wow, I wonder if this will give some stiff competition to the UXL-18?

I think I might pre-order 4 to put in my four sealed 3.5 cubic foot boxes. What do you think Scott or LTD02?

Is there anyway to block a thread? Cause this one might get me in trouble...seems like a nice price on a nice driver. Too bad end of January is eta... I could use some Xmas break to build.

I'm a noob with winisd, but I put in the parameters for both the Dayton Audio HO 18" and the new Dayton Audio Ultimax 18" specs in winisd and set it to a closed box (sealed) with 99.109 liters which is 3.5 cubic foot according to google and got the following frequency response plots with a single watt.

Looks like (if I even did the simplest of calculations right) that you get an extra couple dB down low with this driver over the HO.

Somebody throw something at me if I'm wrong here.

Imagine 4 of these in sealed enclosures each getting 2200watts from a single 10000 fp clone amp. All for 2000 bucks. Can't be beat

This is from Rory, the product manager at parts express

"Very happy to oblige.

Hint: You really don't need a huge box for this driver, thanks to the middle-of-the-road Qts, but if you want solid response into the teens, that's one way to get it. Infinite baffle is another. Xmax is enormous, but there's even more Xmech available.

If you've only got room for a smaller box, the UM18-22 will also work well in 4 cubes, sealed, and with as much EQ as you care to throw at it. The 1000W RMS power rating is conservative for the coil."

And something like 15 pounds heavier than the 15" version.

Yep, there's been several; here, here, and I'm guessing there's many others.

I think it's a solid idea, relatively nearfield, entirely stealthy, now executed properly it'd be pretty heavy, but wth.

I already have a couple of Dayton HO18's in a pair of MartySub enclosures, but my significant other is pressuring me to build some smaller 4cuft sealed cabs due to the size of the MartySub.

How would two HO18's and two UM18's each in a 4cuft sealed enclosure compare in the 20hz to 120hz range compared to what I have now? (Duel HO18 each in a MartySub)

If I go that route, I will use a MiniDsp 2 by 4 with advanced plugin to boost the low end & EQ, the response.

Naaaa! you’re just looking for another excuse to build Marty, you got the bug. Might as well be honest about it. biggrin.gif

I'm guessing these model pretty similar to the Stereo Integrity 18"? I didn't model out the SI 18" yesterday, but looking at data-bass.com it looks like the Dayton 18" HO native FR was about 1.5 dB less than the SI at 12.5hz, and based on my model above - it seems like they'd be pretty similar in native frequency response, with the Dayton driver able to handle more power.
