You know John it really is a reflection of you. My first post asking for help was answered by you. You helped me get started and have the confidence that it would turn out good. Amazing that less then a year later I've built about 25 subs and now feel like a midlevel diy guy. I know there is a tonne of guys like me who would love to take you out for dinner smile.gif

I was able to get the second sub almost finished, just have too put the front baffle on. I would of finished today but had to take my son to the Amazing Spider-man 2 for his birthday. I'll get it finished tomorrow, and then patch everything up, router the edges and get ready to paint this week. I'll have all four monsters up and running by next weekend.

Hmmm JB, I could sell my two 2400 year old dual black maple Seaton Submersives and build 4 of these! Or build two and then build like 4 smaller sealed smoothing subs!!! That would be a lot of work though!!!

Also LTD, didn't you say having sealed and ported together is bad in that we would have phase issues around the port tune? Just curious in case I just wanted to build two of these and set them next to each submersive smile.gif

Why not keep your two SubM HP's and just built two flat pack sealed 18's from Erich? The UM18-22 is only about 6 weeks from being available. You could buy two of those, plus the flat packs and an INuke 6000 for a little over a grand.

6 weeks, eh?...rolleyes.gif
When the "in stock" words appear on the PE site for the UM18-22, that's when the vapor has dissipated.

I guess the same could be said about the UXL-18's because its a while before they'll be available again.

No, sir....and I had not brought up the UXL...however, the UXL is a tried and true product that has been out in the real world as a production piece...and vetted.
The UM18-22 is a piece of traditional vapor-ware since the production pieces have not yet hit public channels in any reasonable quantity (at all?) as of yet...an unproven piece of merchandise.
It's not that it isn't in stock...it hasn't been in stock...ever.

It's all good though, Joe. biggrin.gif

Vapor-ware or not, the present dearth of sub drivers in the sub-$500 range has not been pleasant for many of us...and I am looking forward to that changing in the near future...I hope!

LOL!...no hard feelings to anyone that has had their fingers crossed!...must be getting cramps by now!

Yeah...that one takes the cake big time over the IPR/Pro-LITE amps that were on the burner for 2-3 years.

"Also LTD, didn't you say having sealed and ported together is bad in that we would have phase issues around the port tune?"

not necessarily. with a ported cab, there is a phase transition from the driver to the port, but with a low tune, i'm not sure that it matter a whole lot (if at all). one reason is at 20hz for example, the wavelength is ~53 feet long, so it has hit the ceiling walls and floor and is reflecting/changing phase in the room even before the wavelength can completely emerge from the subwoofer.

Listen. It's All Good.
