I'm super PUMPED to be getting four of them. I would hope that four plus the two large ported cabinets will be enough for my 1800cubic/ft theater!..lol biggrin.gif

Someone in this thread requested shots on the progress of this run, so I went out and splurged on a new camera to take the pictures with - a whole $58. So things begin here....

I ordered in about 1.5 tons of steel for this and a few other projects. Steel is fairly expensive up here so I usually try to order in bulk when I can.

The DoAll saw takes little time to rip through the 8 1/2" round steel.

A shot of a finished top plate in the turning center. I would kill for live tooling! you machine guys know what I'm talking about. Maybe next year tongue.gif

I was able to get through half the quantity today. I'm feeling pretty fatigued as a result. Time for a beer....

Just came across this thread. Understand the group buy is closed but would like to add my name to the "fall-through" list.

Coil operations - putting the final touches on a coil (taping). As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, making a UXL/FTW coil takes about twenty minutes. Other coils don't take nearly as long, but these ones are special. Adhesive is applied to each winding layer and then heated. A final coating is applied to the outside and the coil is then baked in an oven.

I had a coil from an MJ-18 so thought I would snap a pic of them side by side. The MJ-18 had a rating of 800 watts RMS.

not so much a debacle as a delay.

The Ultimax 18" ship date has been delayed till at least April as Parts Express has encountered a problem in the current 18" test models in their stress testing.
