I tried to weigh my sub on an digital scale, ya that doesn't really work, lol! Magnet on the sub sucked the scale right to itself.

Step 1) Weigh self
Step 2) Weigh self with sub
Step 3) Subtract weight 1 from weight 2

Look what the UPS man dropped off! And I do mean DROPPED. One side of the box has several puncture wounds that I can only assume they were using for hand holds! eek.gif

Cone looks okay at first glance.

Looks even better at a close glance... tongue.gif

Went to do the battery test and it got sucked out of my hands by the UXL's motor. haha. I didn't have time to mount it, so I ended up testing it with my multimeter just to be sure. It measured 4 ohms. Phew. smile.gif

Extra ventilation, as was shown before.

Shot of the bottom for no reason.

It seems from the initial test on data bass, mostly all the mentioned concerns were addressed. No more cork front gasket, carbon fiber dust cap which doesn't feel flimsy, additional venting and the pole vent seems closer to 3/4" vs 1/2".

I work in a pediatric medical office. When we get them 2 and 3 year olds that decide at first sight that the totally harmless digital scale has now become a demon and is ready to eat them. But only when we ask them to stand there. Then it's all over.

You know, I actually tried that. I couldn't figure out why the driver weight came to only 25 pounds. Then I realized my scale only went up to 250...

I always add a higher weight when I am shipping. That way the guy picking it up feels stronger than he actually is... tongue.gif

Steel rusts you know...sorry couldn't help it. smile.gif Says the guy that has no room to talk. smile.gif

By the way, I modeled my LMS-5400 driver against the UXL-18 in WinISD the other day and in a 120 L enclosure with 2000 watts, the UXL-18 actually was very slightly louder up top and down low. Impressive. Of course those are simulations and the real world might be different but based on what I modeled, I doubt there would be much if any output difference between the more expensive LMS-5400 and UXL-18. If I decide to go beyond 3 LMS-5400s, I'll definitely be considering the UXL-18. Of course, some positive press by people in the group buy would help immensely as well so hurry up and get some listening going guys. We see the pictures, we know it happened, now listen and report already! smile.gif

After a couple of days listening I am very impressed . I was worried about spending double on this driver compared to my si18. But its definitely better. If you have another group buy in a year. Or. So I will get another .

Just curious did you compare the two using the same enclosure? What stood out soundwise?

Why wait a year? Email Mark and see if you can get another 40 drivers in total he'll honour the group buy price again.

I got my two up and running tonight and these things are freaking AWESOME! eek.gif

Chalugadp has two identical Marty cudes, both powered by iNuke 3000DSP's and one with an SI 18, the other a UXL-18.

Same enclosure . The uxl18 is like the si18 on steroids. Like adding 3-4 dbs across the board. Its effortless . Hits lower , harder. At twice the price it should .

What I personally find so impressive about the UXL-18 is that it costs less then half of the LMS-5400 but offers the same performance basically! eek.gif

In the world of high performance 18's its a bargain IMO. smile.gif

Four of the UXL's fell in my lap last Sunday......................I was planning on ordering four LMS 5400 Ultras on Monday.  After pm-ing many fellow AVS members and siming the crap out of my computer, it was obvious which direction logic needed to take.

I'm powering with two Peavey ipr2 7500's with 2000 watts per channel......................given that piece of info,  LMS-U and UXL drivers model almost identical.............needless to say, I'm impatiently waiting for my four UXL drivers! :D

Each model represents 4 of each driver, 2000 watts each in 4 cubes per driver............red is LMS, green UXL

Sorry................

In all honesty, I was not impressed with SI-18 driver.....................not one bit.  If the UXL can compete with my S2, I'll be more than happy.  From what I've been told in those dark, deep, secret places in pm.............the UXL is a much better driver than what is used in S2, so I'm very optimistic!  :)

When you think about it that's pretty good because the strong suite of the LMS-U is smaller sealed cabinets, so the fact that the UXL-18 is that close in your graph with a 4cu/ft cabinet says a lot to me. And in a large ported cabinet I've read that is where a UXL-18 has the advantage on the LMS-U. At least from what I recall reading. smile.gif

Haha sorry, fixed that. smile.gif
