By the way, I have room in my lap for 2 UXL-18s to fall into if someone has changed their mind and doesn't need 2. Seriously, I want a pair so PM me. Thanks

I did the sub crawl to determine the two best places in my room to put a sub. I then level/distance matched them, and ran some sweeps.

I'm "basically" flat to 10Hz... except for a 20dB drop at 40Hz! eek.gif My room is 13 feet wide, which according to the internet explains the null. I am going to see if I can fix it by strategically placing a 12" sub that I have.

Yep. 40Hz might as well not even be there with the way it's set up right now. It's crazy.

My room is 12"7 by 12"8 by 7 foot tall and I have a 10db jump up at 40hz that I still need to figure out how to solve. I did smooth out 50-80hz substantial by simply making the subs face the wall but now bass sounds a bit too boomy. I swear it's like you can't win!

With the dip at 30 hz, makes sense another at 120 hz...................but expected the same at all multiples of 30.  Oh well.................the room is not the issue.  Need more SUBS is issue!  Suspect, quads will be much, much better.  BTW, the S2 had a heck whole lot more to give!!!!

BTW, does anyone have an opinion on gauge wire?  I've purchased in-wall 10 AWG but have to pull two runs of 40+ ft  through 1 inch corrugated snurf tubing!

Talk about a lube job and a half!  I'm really worried about making it though the tubing.  Actually thought about 4 conductor 12 AWG, but am worried about length of run, conductivity and HEAT!!!

Well, I have just a half hour ago, successfully had the cops called on me, I guess getting this uxl-18 and adding it to my other two 15" titanic mkIII was a bad idea lol. I bought this house back at the end of November, remodeled this one small room in the basement that used to be a bedroom to have a nice little closed off home theater room and I guess this is a bad spot for my equipment. frown.gif I didn't think it would be loud enough to bother the neighbors, their house is a good 15-20 feet away, half the room is underground, but bass just always seems to find a way to annoy somebody lol.

Well............my neighbor stated that my 170 ft long 7 ft high, 8 inches deep concrete retaining wall with 2 ft X 4ft footing  I built was moving/vibrating with one JTR S2...........he thought it was .

Can you imagine what 4 UXL's will do?

The room

The two titanics are on the left facing the wall, that ported sub actually wasnt on at the time, as I only put it on for movies to help the low end, I was listening to music at the time. Would take some photos of outside but too dark out now.

I have the uxl-18 hooked up to a epx4000 in bridged mode, and the two titanics are their own channel connected to another epx4000, the ported is hooked up to a dayton sa1000. Once I get my other UXL-18 I'm going to get rid of the two titanics most likely and the ported dayton ultimax.

The cops were nice though, at first I thought maybe something happened out front or something, I was just sitting in the room listening to music and then I heard knocking on the window. They just told me what was going on and said they couldn't really hear anything until they got to the back of the house, the back wall of that room is where my garage is at and right at the window is where my next door neighbor is at. I honestly felt a bit embarrassed, I hoped one of the neighbors would have just came over and told me something as I would have no problem turning it down... Well I guess I should have kept my home theater stuff in the other area of the basement by the front of the house as that would add a lot of extra material to block the sound and the front neighbors wouldn't hear it as they are a good 100 feet away across the street.

Scroll down to the "Resistance in Speaker Wire" calculator. Input your amp power, speaker wire length, etc... to get a good gauge of what you need.

Thanks,

This url has been posted many times................but this is the first time I've seen this specific calculator.

2000 watt input............1864 watts at speaker. Circular mil cutoff at 1900 watts so 12/10 AWG is too small a gauge for that current by calculator.  Recommends 9 AWG or less.  Not like I'm going to push the UXL's with that much wattage anyways, so I'm safe.

Thanks again, this helps.

I'm in close contact with someone who would want four, but he would like to have me go through the rounds with my four first. Should be easy to drum up interest for another round.

Heck, if I'm happy with my quads, maybe four more? eek.gifeek.gifeek.gif
