I'll take two for sure and two more possible (depending on the final price and my finances!)

Ya... that was a typo on my part.... I wasn't sure if you were going for 3500 watts / sub or not. It all depends on how the amp/ohm load breaks down and as I said I'm not familiar with the clones. All I saw was 14000 and four drivers. The fact that you were 'picking up and extra' made me double take since I am squeezing four into almost half the watts.

Ya.... the IPR 7500 is a perfect match for four. Two on each channel, 2 ohm load, 1875 watts / driver.

Since we are on the topic of group buys. I can get excellent pricing on quantity Peavy IPR 2 amps. If enough people are interested let me know and I can get more details.

pdxrealtor - I am more interested in the Peavey amps than clone amps. I have a Crown XLS-5000 powering my caps now, but if I'm buying four more subs and still keeping my caps (that's my plan - whether I go with ultimax or these UXLs) I'll need another amp. What have you in mind?

I picked up a couple IPR 2 7500s from a buddy who owns a shop. 650.00 each. The Peavy rep just happened to have two on him when he stopped by. I was told I can get more but in quantities of six, due to shipping costs to the shop.

I'm not sure if he can have Peavy drop ship or not. If enough people show interest to start a group buy thread I'll do it and get details ASAP.

All IPR2s are available.

pdxrealtor,

I know a few guys in KC who are interested in the IPR2 7500 DSP model as well. How much is that one for comparison in group buy?

Obviously, if Chop is looking at 16 as well (did I undertstand that right, Jake?), we may have a realistic shot at hitting those quantity numbers.

btw, auburn...if you are a football fan...why the heck did Pat Dye go for the tie at the end of the bowl game 25 years ago against the Syracuse Orangemen??? I keep trying to find Pat to ask him, but he seems to be dodging me.rolleyes.gif

I believe he was emulating Dr Tom Osborne, worked well for him in the NC game against Miami. A tie woukd have given him his first NC but inexplicably went fir the win (and lost). Potentially the dumbest decision in history of college football.

Great pricing on this UXL, but the timing is aweful on my end.

Seriously. I started thinking about it right after I said no way to this group buy. But already having a 7500 combined with the fact of reducing the subwoofer footprint, evening out my two amp channels, and fully using every single available watt of the 7500 it just made sense.

I don't have prices on anything but the 7500. I will get details and start a thread hopefully to include prices for all models. Any more info people want let me know via pm so i can get it covered in one call.

I was looking pretty hard at the SI 18s, or the new Dayton Ultimax 18. Given that the latter is unreleased, does anyone know how these compare? I hadn't really looked at the UXL because the $500/driver price point was above my budget. I am looking at doing 4.

I have to see what Mark does with pricing, but yes, If I buy it will be 16 or more. The thing is that these are great drivers, but the pricing I got for 2 dozen IB18s was also fantastic. I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do with two dozen IB18s a half dozen Daytons and 16-24 UXLs, but I guess there are worse problems to have biggrin.gif

In all seriousness, I won't feel bad about asking for a better price. There are tons of options out there right now at really great prices and it has to be borderline fire sale for me to jump. Just being honest, I'm not gonna an impulse purchase for 16 of them at $410...maybe a couple just to try out, but not 16 or more. Now if Mark does end up responsive to lower the price for higher quantities, I may just grab a $hitload of them. I have $6k worth of AE woofers on the way too, so it has to be a really seductive price.

Depending on the price I'd be in for a group buy on some Peavey amps! I was going to use two inuke 6000DSP's to power four UXL-18's, but depending on the price I could going with the Peavey IPR2 7500.

How would these two amps compare? I'm guessing I would still need to do a fan mod on a Peavey amp too?

I have two empty g-horns right now while I'm painting them and a clone if somebody wants to get a UXL to KC (Archaea!) and we can compare the UXL and the LMSU side by side with my calibrated UMIK.

Hey Chaluga, am thinking about unloading my dual PSAs to finance one (maybe two) of these UXLs. I wonder how they will perform in an enclosure such as our Martysubs. I assume they would take the SI/Dayton Martys to the next level. Perhaps someone (hint hint LTD02) who knows how could model this in a big-ass vented enclosure. Oh, and with the exception of my surround speakers, everything else is DIY. And I expect rectify that by building two smaller DIYers for surrounds as soon as I can find the time.

I pm'd ltd about using uxl18 in sealed enclosure and how that would integrate with Marty . I just don't have room for another 11 cu box in my living room. 4-6 cu feet is my range. Since its xmas I'm cutting him slack for not getting right back to me biggrin.gif. I'm sure uxl18 in Marty box would be crushing . Basically that's what jbrown is doing times four.

Multiple sealed UXLs ( if they can be successfully integrated with Marty) sounds interesting. I can go either way --smaller sealed or large vented--and it would be great to have an idea how these options would work.

Yeah my build will basically be four Marty subs, but with a slightly larger enclosure I believe.

Here's a graph LTD02 gave me on my potential build, this graph is based on one large enclosure roughly 22cu.ft with a port tune of 14hz consisting of two UXL-18's and powered by a inuke 6000.

Since I'm building two, add 6dB to this graph and that's what I'm looking at for my room! biggrin.gif
