It comes down to distortion. A driver being pushed less hard will have lower distortion, but a sub designed with shorting rings and lower distortion overall will just always sound better.

I have a tc-3000 12" and I swear up and down it sounds better then almost any sub I've heard. Imagine a LMS-U redface.gif

Are you talking about driver diameter or overall size? Just curious.....

As I said that's just been my experience dropping in different drivers while playing with car audio. It's always just seemed to make sense too. If a subwoofer cost more, weighs more, and can handle more power, it must be better in some way than a cheaper, lighter, less power capable equivalent.

Hell I don't know much of the technicalities..... I've just played a lot. tongue.gif

^^pd>.. Yes diameter, that’s one stout 12” weighs more than many 18”s. Sometimes it’s nothing but eye candy and then sometimes it’s not. I was agreeing with you though pd.. I'm same as you regarding the playing, I'm no technician or speaker designer that's for sure smile.gif

Who is ordering from the Pacific NW area?

Blah or Auburn- can you share the discount for pallet shipping that was mentioned?

If people who are getting 16 delivered on a pallet are getting enough of a discount we could combine ship to central location, say Portland, OR. biggrin.gif , and arrange pickups/deliveries.

As far north as Seattle and south to southern Oregon seems doable. I don't mind driving a bit.

Pulled a driver and it weighed 54 lbs.

A couple people have pm'd regarding my experience with Mark. Was fine to work with via email and I actually met him in IA when he was on a big RV road trip to get my other two drivers.

I think asking him to drop the UXL price to 375 is a stretch. 410, shipped, is great.

My two outstanding issues on separate drivers- a tiny VC rub at very high excursions (above reference and subs +++DB) he said to ship back and he would fix. I never hear it other than demos. I also siliconed in the driver like an idiot and can't get that one out. (DIY woops). So that's on me to get out and send.

The air leak one I can't figure out and think its a gasket or something I can't put a finger on. I siliconed the screw hole it was sourcing from and has largely gone away. If Archaea can't fix it for me I'll prob ship back for Mark to check out.

So yeah let's get that # to 40.

And why the hell do you guys need 16?

A question about wiring the uxl. Currently I have a inuke 3000 dsp powering my martysub si d4 in bridge mode and the wiring on the sub is this going into channel A output of inuke.

This gets me 1100 watts. The uxl is a 4 ohm sub. How will I wire up both subs to get 1100 watts for both on the inuke ? Eventually I may add another amp to power the uxl more but not right now

The inuke 3000 shows 1500 watts into a 8ohm bridged load, which is what you have there. No?

You have the D-4 which is dual 4 ohm coils. That gives you the option of a 2 ohm load or a 8 ohm load for the SI. Now...... I'm pretty sure you can't mix different brand drivers when wiring things up in series or parallel, but even if you can you're still kind of at loss as the optimal wiring would put you below the 4ohm / 3000 watt bridged output.

Someone correct if I'm wrong about wiring two different brands/ohm load of coils together. If I am, then you can investigate further how the inuke will handle a bridged load below four ohms but above two. The highest you could get, I think, is a 2.67 ohm load by wiring the SI for 8 ohms and the then running parallel into the 4ohm UXL.

Might be better off to pick up a 1000 watter or similar for the SI.

Even selling the SI and grabbing a second UXL would not be optimal with that amp.

^^ I guess the better route would be buying a second inuke3000 dsp on ebay for 250 from that dude in Atlanta . Then I could run that in bridged mode for 2200 watts which the uxl can handle. Man this hobby crushes my dough eek.gif

Edit: Nevermind. I made an incorrect assumption (that you were going to have 2 UXL's). Besides, pdxrealtor replied before me anyway.

Yes, My current inuke is bridged 8ohm for 1100 watts (not the 1520 in the specs)
If I get the second inuke it would be bridged 4 ohm and its real value is around 2200 watts ( not 3k as advertised)

Jeez just last year I had a receiver doing everything. Now three amps (have parasound for 5 speakers) cool.gif

Yep, Inuke3k and ep2500/4000 all do 2000 RMS bridged, givr or take. It was tested a
while back.

Edit beaten, inukes are also around -3db at 10hz and ep4000's are supposed to be around 5hz.

At 250.00 for 2000 watts you would do better getting the Peavy IPR2 5000 or 7500. As far as I know it hasn't been officially tested, but I could be wrong on that.

The inuke6000 yes, the 3000, no. It's flat as the ep4k.

I just added Rebel and JWagstaff to the second post in the thread where driver allotments/commitments are being tallied.

Congrats!!

As of right now, in less than three days, we have reached 20 out of 40 drivers committed.

Keep passing the word....half way there.
