Agree. As I measured 5 years ago opening\closing door in back wall makes about nothing with room length modes.
(I was hoping that would help )

Hello,

I'm desperately trying to find one pair or even a single unit of Tang Band 75-1558se mid dome. Can anybody help me, please?

Solen have one unit in stock so if I can find one more I'll get my pair.

Simon

Thank you Nils.

I can not sent PM becasue my post count is too low.

I have contacted the shop you suggested.

If they don't have stock, do you have any you are willing to sell?

Simon

A question about DBA and SBA, is the rigidity of the wall essential to operation? If you use sound insulation like double drywall & green glue, will it cause problems?

Use of DD, GG and hat channel will assist in reducing low frequency resonant modes. This is due to the flex in the wall. It works fine in my SBA.

I have sub'd your thread will read more when I get a chance. And yeah hat channel+ thanks for the reminder.

One reason I am thinking DBA over SBA is I want a dual purpose room an audio lounge (for 2 channel listening and chatting) at one end and theater at the other. It seemed to me that it would be simple to have the DBA reversible so the bass can come from either end. Do you think a DBA would also be Ok with the walls?

Can you tell me how much effect the rows of seating have on your SBA? Also what level of bass do you get from your array? I would need to use 32 drivers (DBA) to match yours

I never said this thread when it was first created, just wanted to say I've always loved the Peerless XLS/XXLS drivers and thus love this install

SBA or DBA should not matter. The resiliency of DD, GG + hat channel walls will add some "free" absorption (also known as invisible alpha on Gearslutz) of the low frequency modes.

I could not detect any effect.

Were they out of 18s?

Here is the reason. In retrospect, I'm sure the 18s would have worked out fine despite a very low Vas and besides they don't make the 15s anymore.

edit: I see Ficar has a new version of the IB subs which includes 12", 15" & 18".

Seriously did you measure the output level you get at seating?

If I used the approach you did I would need 8 output points on the array i.e. 16 drivers each array.

I was mostly kidding based on the idea that only on AVS would 12 15s be questioned as inadequate. But interesting to see the logic behind it. Where does that formula (speed of sound/2*distance between drivers) come from? The 18s are only $20 more than the 15s so for most purposes 18s make more sense. I have 8 x 15" in two vertical arrays at the front of my theater. I used 15s because I got them for a steal. I am considering upgrading to 18s.

Great job with the layout and planning!
