I also had some great conversations with Nick on the HST-18 order process. Great guy....loves what he does and it shows.

So, I got the bug to put some more bass in the "blandmobile" (my camry). Installed a kenwood excelon cd player and some infinity speakers. ThenI took an old bazooka 12" sub from high school and put it in a pre fab ported box. Paired it with an old myx thunder 5000 10" in a sealed box running off an old mtx 4244 amp bridged. It did the job for a few months, but....I want more.

So.....I am planning on building a 5 cube ported box tuned to 25hz for one of the SIHT18's and tossing it in my camry! I'm 34 years old with a 3 year old and have no business putting this large 18 in a ported box in my daily driver ...but....I can't resist. I have massive bass at home...why not in the car too!

I have a 500 watt old school mtx amp that will run it. Just wanted to share.....

Anyone else plan on using one in their car? Or am I that guy....biggrin.gif

Scott also is currently running one in his car smile.gif I am good ole stock stereo in my Jeep and I hate it tremendously.

Phew....not the only lunatic. It is 500 rms. Old school MTX when they were underrated and came with a "Birth Certificate" It is mono block and will do 2 ohm. Goodbye trunk...hello abusive bass!

But never too loud with the kiddie....

Yup! I've got a d2 in my Jeep Liberty and have had it back there for just about a year now. It's excellent but I think I need a proper amp for it. I had just bought a $100 Kenwood that was CEA-2006 rated of 500w @4ohm which at the time seemed plenty. And I guess it's good enough but I'm thinking more power is needed. biggrin.gif

Thanks for remembering, Brandon. You should totally load up yours with one. Well, erm, maybe not. I can't use my (what was already not large) trunk anymore. tongue.gif

What enclosure do you have it in? Sealed or ported (tune?). I am also not looking forward to losing my trunk space, but I have the sub and I have the amp...so.....why not

It's sealed at about 4.5cuft.

Sounds pretty good and works with the cabin gain it seems. Lol I never have tried measuring it but it sounded and felt good. Mostly all the good stuff is done with the EQ settings anyway. I have it running up to 150hz IIRC. Great top end.

Curious for those with the SI18HT and Inuke DSP amps.

What do you set (if you do) the limiters to?
