Suntron isnt that a big old iron amp?

How much was one of those?

I know of a few other amps traveling around eastern asia that put out about 10000watts and cost about 800dollars and weigh 85lbs. But they wont ship that amp out of asia for some reason.rolleyes.gif

Still no clipping and seamless output....

No breaker pop and the bass is just endless. Just keep inching the volume up and it keeps getting louder. I think my house and my wife are my limiting factors now. biggrin.gif

I am loving this amp....a lot

Well, I got the dustcaps warm to the touch last night. eek.gif No Bad smells thank god. I reran audyssey before some friends came over and it really messed up my low end with a huge boost. I was demoing for some AV geek friends of mine and didn't check with Omni mic until they left. I had to pull 30Hz and lower down by 10db in the mini dsp! Not cool at all.

HST's were laying it down. It was so much fun to watch their reactions. Still not a clip or shutdown from the SP2-12000. I told the owner of the company i work I want to buy the amp (at a reduced cost:D). I will still make it available for demos for our customer.

Sweet deal on the amp man! I have a pair of those coming or the 24z and can't wait. Your impressions of it being a bottomless pit have me so psyched!

I've come to the conclusion, as it seems you're coming to, that auto eq just isn't gong to cut it, shy of Trinnov or something of that caliber. I still wonder if a manual run can match or better it. I feel like anyone with a mic and some patience can probably do better than the machine. I was dead set on Trinnov, but a $20k experiment ain't happening

A PAIR!! eek.gif Nice! You will be impressed. How many 24s are you powering? Will you run 230 to the amps?

Also, I agree that the auto eq is not perfect and can get it wrong...often. I just don't have a dedicated space and extra time right now to really get it all dialed in (house is open platform and lots of extra noise from dog, kid, etc.). Theater room in basement has been masked out in tape and material list should be done next week so I can start ordering lumber-drywall-iso clips, etc. biggrin.gif

8 of em' on the way right now. Nick built some serious shipping crates for me since the suv wouldn't fit them all when we went down there.

That's exciting that you're getting ready to start the room man! Plan, plan, plan...sounds like you're doing it the right way, and certainly have the subwoofage biggrin.gif

That is awesome! Nick really takes pride in his builds. You can tell just by having a conversation with him.

8- SI 24s sealed with 3k each?!?!?! Madness. I love it! Do you have a dedicated room?

Hey Chop, I am really concerned about your mental health. Most folks on this particular forum are a bit abnormal to begin with and we all accept that, but 8 SI 24s??????????????. This has got to be the new height of (bass) insanity. I can't imagine the room you are going to need to actually use their massive potential. eek.gif

Haahaha....I'm a little nuts, just ask anyone that's hung out with me for 5 minutes biggrin.gif What makes me feel better is that they say people who are really, truly mentally ill have no clue that they're nuts...as long as I'm aware, I guess I'm ok biggrin.gif

Lots of cubic footage in the dedicated room.. upwards of 7000cubes if it comes to the estimated measurements. Nick is soooo proud of these 24z, as he should be. I may be able to rustle up an interview with him of just how proud he is....j/k buddy biggrin.gif

If this is against the forum rules, please remove.

We are preparing to sell our house in the next several months and part #1 (according to the wife) is making the house feel "larger" to potential buyers. Therefore, I am putting both my Machtsubs and my LCR speakers (custom DIY Sound group Tempest 12 as towers-sand filled bases, and a Alchemy 8) up for sale (since they make a room feel smaller!). All finished in duratex and mains have magnetic grills. This system sounds fantastic. I also have a brand new Inuke 12000 if interested in a combo.

PM me if interested.

Location: Peoria, IL

Thanks!

This post makes me very sad. How much will you be asking for the HST's?

I am sad too. It was cool to have the first pair of HST-18s built by Nick at SI. The whole process was so much fun. They are just insane drivers in a perfect enclosure (spent so much time working with my buddy and fellow AVSers on the design). Being in my main living space and having a 4 yo and 4 month old, they get very little play time as well. Still trying to figure out if I can store them while we stage the house (but who knows how long that will take!). I figured I would gauge interest from my AVS family first.

Still looking for my emails on enclosure final cost to determine price.

Maybe you could sell them on a permanent buyback opportunity basis. That way they could be someone's stand-in for a while but then could make the journey to their new home after you are all done!

Mini-storage, man. Cheap, and you can store other stuff for staging the house.

Aww man! You can't sell these. They're awesome subs!

You don't have a friend that can "borrow" them for a little while?

Sorry to hear about the predicament. I am interested in the Tempests though. I live in the Kenosha Wi region a few hours north if you don't feel like shipping them.

I would have PM'd you but I have been a total lurker up to this point.

I really don't want to move these monsters more than once if at all possible risking possible damage. I dont have a truck so I would have to rent one plus storage for however long.

Also all my friends are married with kids so they would all love to "borrow" them, but their SO would beg to differ!

Still thinking through this.

Take the drivers out of the cabs and give the cabs away. Then use the tempests full range. Build new cabs in the new house.

For what I have into the cabs, I can't just give them away (plus they are really nice). I have a possible local buyer coming with his wife this weekend. (Wife is not going to approve....lol)

Buck,

Great thread and build by the way. I'm planning a HST-18 build and currently have a F-20 that I'm using in my living room setup. The f-20 enclosure is roughly 17 cubic feet. I was looking for a large capable box that could confidently go into the teens with authority. Your configuration seems to fit the bill perfectly. Do you happen to have the winisd models, cutlist and or sketchup files available for me to play with?

Thanks in advance and good luck with the sale/future plans.

Wiz, you have a PM.

Potential buyer stopped by to hear the Machtsubs. We jammed out to some EDM and movies. He was all grins! His wife was not..... He tried to make a deal with the devil, but she wasn't having it. She was under the impression they were the size of a small end table. They are not.

So they are still for sale. Asking $1450 with an Inuke6000DSP thrown in for the right offer. Local pickup preferred.

I sold the custom Tempest towers and Alchemy center to a co worker. Need these gone by end of August or it will be storage unit time.
