I decided to humor myself and see if I could find a pic of my first subwoofer. I tried long ago, with no luck, but today I finally found it! This prompted me to dig up pics of all the subs I have built over the years. For your humor...:
I built a stereo pair of these. Sealed small 10" ACI SV10's powered by kiega amps. These were built back in 2000.
Then I got the urge to build something big. big is relative. Back in the days, this was pretty good size (now, it's almost tiny!)
Dual opposed sealed 15" sono sub using the BPD1503 drivers. Powered by a crown K2 and used a linkwitz transform.
But those itty bitty monitors really needed something to pair with better, so I built something else. These are also sealed 10", but you'll never find the drivers. These were custom ones made long ago by BPD. They were nifty long throw XBL^2 drivers designed to play low, sealed.
And as with all upgrade bugs, I decided to build a 2.1 system. The 2.0 part played to 40hz just fine, but when I watched a movie, I wanted something more gutwrenching, so I built a 24" cube using the Tumult, and a pair of Stryke 18PRs, tuned to 18hz. I don't think my neighbors in this apartment liked me too much :P
Soon, this will all go away. New SEOS-10 system with new subs will be built and thumping away in a few months. Hope to have something fun to post when that time comes!
(continually playing with ideas. We'll find out for sure if I end up with a single monster sub, or a pair of more modest subs used as stands)
