When I go to update/edit the subwoofer build thread, I get switched into the "Rich Editor".

In the Rich Editor, I can't figure out how to insert a link.

When I click on the insert link button, I get a text box with all kinds of crazy options and nothing happens when I click on OK or Cancel. I have to refresh the page in order to escape out of it.

Whatever the regular editor is works fine. For example:

8x 18" LMS 5400 Ultras Sealed to 27 Cube 15hz Ported Build

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

John

It loos like some of the old threads ended up getting stored as html instead of bbcode, so editing them brings up the rich editor.

You should be able to add the link like so if you're in source mode.
Code:

<a class="bbcode_url" href="http://www.avsforum.com/t/1516234/8x-18-lms-5400-ultras-sealed-to-27-cube-15hz-ported-build/0_50">8x 18" LMS 5400 Ultras Sealed to 27 Cube 15hz Ported Build</a>

Otherwise, you should be able to use the link button same as always to add the link. Try clicking the source button to see if it puts you in whichever mode you need.

EDIT: added more infos

Also, if you write out text, then highlight it when clicking the link button, it will use that for the text of the link and then let you enter the link itself.

Weird though how the old posts all got hosed like that. I went to edit one of mine recently and had that come up.

the rich text editor is just fubar for me.

when i click on format or size, i get a dropdown box that appears for a second, then disappears.

when i go to insert a link, i get this. when i enter a url and click ok, nothing happens. when i click cancel, nothing happens.

editing the html is a bit of a pain. not a big deal to do one or two, but not a very efficient process. maybe the mods could help export the original data and i can create a new thread.

it appears that the disease was caused by a change in the way links are referenced.

all the links in the old forum are of the form:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1207109

and point to a thread number.

while the new format points to a url that is based on the thread name, such as:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1516234/8x-18-lms-5400-ultras-sealed-to-27-cube-15hz-ported-build/0_50

however, clicking on the old format with the number in the url forwards to:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1207109/air-supplys-dual-tht-small-room-build/0_50

so there is probably a way to match it all up, but I'm not sure if I want to do that as a manual process.

On the subject of using avs , I use tapatalk on my phone to browse the site. Is that what others use on their phone ?
It works well except on my android there doesn't seem to be a way of accessing and responding to pm messages.

I didn't want to start a new thread if their is a couple of easy answers:)

I just use the internet browser on my phone. Once logged in you can access your pm messages.

yeah thats how I do it but on my phone when I try to type in the page will shift around if I try to fix my mistakes. Its not nearly as smooth to reply to messages as it is in tapatalk to reply to threads. Wish tapatalk would have pm capability.

You can always copy the source code and create a new thread here.

http://www.avsforum.com/f/46/post-testing-area

That way you can try out some things with out messing up the original thread. Try a different internet browser like Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and see if it makes a difference. Clearing out the cache and cookies might help.
