Had my Marty party tonight!!!
Four guys popped by. Only one guy was committed to buying beforehand. Fired up the dual cubes and let them do the talking. Listened to a few songs and.... Time to make some more martysub. All were impressed and two of them said that they were on the fence coming over and now they have to have it.

One guy is looking at maybe getting a veneer flatpack as well. It was a lot of fun and all the guys were good guys. Between the four guys it looks like they are getting a total of 5 subs. They have a couple of friends who are coming over next week when they pick up the first round of orders. They might join the Marty craze.

Putting the back on and then needed to angle it to match side. Not a really easy way to flush trim so I went old school

Took about 30 minutes. Would not want to mass produce them this way but for one it was fun.

I sold my old martycube boxes to a local guy so I already did one which was the one I posted a couple of weeks ago with dual woods on outside. I need to build a second one for my si18 sub and then a good idea hit me. Why not do what kevings did. So I am going to build the minimarty version that is 24" by 24" by 40" with 17hz tuning. The performance of the mini is the same as full so I will be improving 6 dbs at 17hz. It will be in the corner and I will use cherry paperback veneer. Just too much size for thicker veneer. Now my si18 sub will keep up with the cube with Uxl18.

Don't you mean "build a second one for the new UXL-18 I'll be ordering later this year" biggrin.gif

I have some left over 1/2" plywood (the rough ugly stuff).....could I use it for the back piece of the double baffle, the middle brace and the port rails for the MartyCube? Everything else would be 3/4" birch plywood. I could get away with only buying one 4x8 sheet if ok smile.gif

That should work for the back piece if you're doubling it up. And again I would probably double it up for the bracing too.

Went in today and finished a couple of flatpacks and the curved funk sub.

Just need to put the veneer on and I am done. Turned out good so I treated myself

About 8 hours of time so far. It's not that hard, just have to take your time. Will be building a crate around the sub when I ship it.

This is looking good Chal!

I found enough scrap mdf and cleat material to build a new component stand, maybe even 2. Makes me want to build a second marty box while I'm out there, but then I'll want to buy a speaker for it and.. on and on biggrin.gif

Denon 4520CI on order - Polk 9.3 w/ wides
Sharp 60" - HTPC - Wii U - Sony BDP-S1100 - Monster HTS3500
DIY sealed 15" x2 sub build almost started

Thanks,
You need a second Marty. Build a vertical minimarty like I am this week. Then your flat to 17hz.

Donny, the curved Funk sub looks great. I see a beautiful finish coming, both on the sub and the project end.

I would love to do the finish but the buyer already has one and wants to match this one's colour so he's doing the finish. Thanks.

That curved sub looks awesome. Put a veneer and a few coats of stain and you have yourself a 2000 sub. Great job Chaluga, I know you don't get keep it or finish but the work you did on it is awesome and he will definitely have himself a nice a looking sub when hes done, lets hope he posts pictures I would love to see the finished product. Had a busy weekend, will start working on MTM tomorrow and keep you posted. I will also be asking about the mini marty but not now after I finish this MTM.

How high is the bottom of the tv from the floor?
