Has Anyone ever used these Klipsch MWM type speakers? I was offered 4 of these for a decent deal but dont really need them...so I am playing around with what I could use them for....

I am considering these even if the internals are bad - thought the enclosures are worth the asking price.

Idea 1:
Would these be good for a High School Football Field - announcing and music? ( I know I would need to have to add a speaker for mids and highs.)

Idea 2:

Assuming I have room for it - could this be used as a home theater subwoofer? I know this is crazy but had to ask - I am addicted to powerful sound.

Thanks for any and all input.

Brian

They would be fine for supplying low end for a football field, they are the black glass version with aluminum trim, they are 'weatherized' compared to lacquered ply, but I would not want to subject them to rain either. They have an Eminence sourced driver made for Klipsch, designated K-43. If they were stored on their back with the mouth pointed upwards, the suspension will have sagged in one direction.

In that picture they are stored the way they should be stored. More information can be found on the Klipsch forum.

There are people that have used them in a home, but there are not a 'subwoofer' as in reproducing what is common on disc today. As a high output bass bin for a 3 or 4 way speaker system, they do fine.

Forgot to mention, those are the more desirable 'singles' compared to the dual units which are more common, but a lot harder to lift, move and manoever.

Don't expect anything below 40Hz from these bins, but they'll go crazy loud.

Thanks to ALL for the responses - this is the information I need.

Next question - what are they worth?

1.) What are they worth each if they work?
2.) What are they worth if they don't work - I assume the enclosure is worth something and worth rebuilidng?

These are local so shipping isn't an issue.

Thanks again!smile.gif

Even if they make noise, there is really no way to know if the drivers are good, unless you pull them out. If the suspension has sagged, they will need a recone.

What are they worth... that depends on geographical location and a lot of other factors, as well as the general condition of the cabinets and drivers.
