Doesn't look like any announcements about an HT version of the SM60F. I knew it was too good to be true. Sigh!

It is still very much true that they are finalizing the design. Hold on to your jock strap there amigo

Do I need to quote your original post about Danley and Infocomm? Something about not knowing anything more than that at this point. Seems like some Danley loving something or other is holding out. And since I'm not exactly in love with my JTRs, any news about a potential upcoming HT version would be much appreciated. Otherwise I might need to take a trip up to Chicago to hear some Cat12s.

Lower extension than current 60f, refined top-end and overall FR catered more towards the smaller HT environment vs pro- sound venues. And that's all I got for now

Hopefully Wayne Phillips or Danley can take some videos of the event. I am curious about this BC218 and HT SM60F offering. Wish they had the TH50 back but will just have to wait. Either way they are always putting out amazing products. Great to see more.

Ditto. I'd love to have them in the wood veneer. Beast's SIs have inclined me to plan on my own DO SI 18 build! It's still in the planning/experimental stages, like Apu's Super Squishy made of pure syrup😎

Nope, Ivan mentioned they have a couple working models right now squeezed into the sm60f cabinet, but when hitting higher spl's the woofers were actually tapping the port holes so they are going to end up designing a new box around it, which unfortunately means the build will be delayed that much further out if I had to guess...

Will it have greater sensitivity and/or power handling than the SH50? Will the woofer section be sealed?

probably slightly lower sens. as the bottom extension should be lower than the current 60f

Ideally looking for something louder and more sensitive but retaining or improving on the 50's sound. Let's see how this pans out.

Hmm. Since the woofers aren't actually being horn-loaded, I wonder why they can't just make standoff rings to move the drivers a couple tenths of an inch further out from the port?
Maybe it wouldn't fit in the box that way.

I would guess that avenue was already explored as using an already existing cabinet would definitely improve on cost.

I think that a few guys that have attended one of Gorilla's GTG has been lucky enough to hear all three speakers.

I wonder if the U215 could be tweaked with some better drivers and a more HT friendly crossover redesign? I am not saying that just simply replacing the cheaper drivers with more expensive drivers would automatically improve SQ, nor can I definitively say which drivers would need replaced, just asking if perhaps they could be tweaked and/or modified with different drivers and a crossover redesign as they were designed and built for PA use, not HT.

I have heard all three on several occasions, with the Danleys almost daily the yorks are incredible and if I were to rank them it would be Danley, York, Noesis. The synergy concept, or as the Yorkville uses, the unity (one of the first gen synergy designs) is the real deal. It just creates a coherency that is tough to beat pretty much anywhere.

Have you heard the Yorks before in an HT environment? They do quite well across the board, I don't care what they were originally "Designed" for...

Marty, Synergy horns are much more picky about driver choice (specially midrange) than a typical direct radiator speaker. The bandpass design forms an acoustic low pass filter which by its nature reduces distortion. Coupled with the horn loading, I'd say the chosen drivers are exactly what's needed. Expensive parts are nice and they have their place but a solid design can trump big $$ parts.

how does Andrew's Yorkville compare to Beast Audio Synergy ? Anyone care to comment? I am curious. The Yorkville is a Unity right? Is there a big difference between them ?

The unity is one of the first generations of Danley's design. He sold the rights to York who have been using it successfully for years now. The Synergy is a 5th-6th generation design of which was born through the success of the unity's concept. I feel like they are certainly more similar than different. point source, clean, effortless. The fiddy is a little more refined, but for the price you can get some yorks, it is hard to deny them

output on either is more than you would ever come close to reaching in any domestic environment. I think max output of the 50's is northward of 133dB peaks.

Both are a full pro audio design so that makes a lot of sense. Doesn't Danley install these things into Football stadiums ? We are talking about big boy audio here.
