The SEOS waveguide was thought up and designed right here on the AVS forum by members much smarter than me. I had a hand in it's general appearance and getting the protoypes done, but if it wasn't for the other forum members the project wouldn't have gone this far.
Things would have been much harder if it wasn't for forum member Bwaslo knowing how to test the prototypes and start designing speakers with them. It was by pure luck that he happened to live 30 minutes away from me instead of 30 hours away. Over the past few years Bill and I have become pretty good friends which helped keep the project moving along. Honestly, I'm not sure how far this would have gone had Bill not been able to help with the testing early on, or the other speaker designers didn't help out with their crossover skills.
In another thread Bwaslo mentioned he was going to be moving soon. I've always wanted to work on a big speaker but the past year just didn't cooperate. So I asked Bill if he had time to work on something before he moved..........of course he has agreed.
I've had a couple ideas but would like to get some input or other ideas on this beast to make sure things go in a direction that other's might be interested in.
A few goals:
#1. 3 way speaker using a SEOS waveguide.
#2. Over the top full range output.
#3. Extreme power handling.
#4. Preferably no taller than 5'.
#5. Must be something unusual and not like other SEOS designs.
#6. Passive crossover.
Even though there's a good chance no one else will build these but me, it would be nice to keep the component prices manageable just in case. I'm not a high roller myself, but no matter how you slice it, this is going to be expensive. I'm thinking $1000 or so for components per speaker might be okay.
Any ideas?
