Should be a cool build though. Anything fancy planned or just a box in its space?

Not sure yet. I haven't had the time to model much up yet. It'd build either a smaller horn or ported enclosure tuned to around 30hz

Tttthhiiiisssss

Otherwise I'd personally do the Ohorn cuz it is smaller and stuff and has a similar yet very useful bandwidth. But this requires to buy a new and expensive driver soooo......

Have you contacted TCSounds directly to inquire for a motor-only sale?

The LMS-ULTRA uses a 4" diameter coil with a variable thickness winding.

Nice! Sorry I did not see that from your previous link.

That's pretty cool but still not sure if Rob can just 'drop-in' his current top assembly from the Ultra onto that.

It IS interesting. Especially when you can compare like technologies such as LMT and XBL^2 and how they attempt to do the same thing but in different ways.

LMT is very effective and fairly simple but requires a brute force strategy that requires lots of steel and brings the price up. Hence the price of such LMS drivers. wink.gif

XBL^2 is quite effective but it requires more care in the design of the motor (and also the VC) however it is more efficient with materials with less steel in the motor and costs less in general but requires a bit more in the engineering part. Prices are lower typically compared to LMS.

I'd just sell it and get a different driver, but lets just say its a very special basket that I can't part with. Well, I could, but that just wouldn't be right.... Anyway, just need a motor frown.gif Wonder if PE sells em separate.

Best of luck, i hope you can source one.

You might be able to contact Thilo or someone there that might be able to get one to you. I called them a couple of times and I was able to speak with a human being. So, it is worth a shot.

I'm a regular browser over a Car Audio Classifieds and I rarely see a proper 4" motor for same.

I have some 3" LMS coils, Elemental Designs AV baskes, 12" cones and some of these motors - http://www.shop.subwooferparts.com/product.sc?productId=103&categoryId=31 that I am building up.
