That because my family room is connected to the kitchen that is about 5000cu and and open a 10,000 cu living room. With only 2 subs, I can clip the inuke 6000dsp pretty easily. However, I don't listen to ref. my house can't take it. Im sure if I have a dedicated ht room, I would be crazy to clip the amp but you never know.

Thanks - I hope so, too.

I'm looking forward to hearing what duals will sound like in my room, and to experimenting with a low-shelf boost down to ~10Hz.

Thanks. I hope to have the second one up and running and the system re-calibrated in time for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" Saturday night.

Good flick - I have it on BD. No kids in the house, but my wife tells me that despite being just shy of 47, I have a "youthful disposition".

And that, as they say, is that: Pics.

Tomorrow I run Audyssey; tomorrow night I enjoy a flick with the new subs; and next week I start playing around with the iNuke DSP software.

Dsp is great to bump up your favorite octave 1-2dbs. Don't have to have perfect flat response . Customize it to what you want.

Funny you should say that - I've actually been thinking about something along the line of a pair of Fusion-10s w/ an 88 Special in between.

But...not yet. Not just yet...

I've been following your build thread. That's a hell of a CC speaker!

Dunno if I can handle one that's even bigger than my CC-690, though...

You're center channel is actually bigger then the 1099's, well it's an inch longer or taller depending on how you have it orientated.

I was lucky enough to be able to audition a pair of Studio 100v5's and the CC-690 center channel in my theater room for a week thanks to a hook up I have through a friend. And I think you'd be pleasantly surprised by a full LCR setup of the 1099's compared to the Paradigm Studio stuff.

I don't know how paradigm sound but the 1099 are really dynamic . Almost too much. If you want laid back super smooth then 1099 are not for you.

I wonder when more guys will try the resistor mode option that Ryan was talking about? I really like the 1099's but find they can get a tad bright at times while watching movies.

If I couldn't eq so easily I would have went with resistor.

Yeah anyone using a PEQ shouldn't need the resistor mode option, or maybe they would like it and could always EQ it the other way too.

Initial impressions:
- The FR curve looks about the same as it did with the SS-18s, but the lower frequencies sound noticeably "thicker" / seem to have more "weight" to them. The UXLs seem to be able to dig deeper better.
- That said, occasionally it feels like there's some mid-bass missing. Maybe they just need a bit of break-in. (The SS-18s sounded noticeably different/better after a number of hours of play.)

I wanted to play with the iNuke's DSP software this afternoon, but I encountered a couple of problems:
- my laptop has Windows 8 on it and Behringer apparently doesn't have drivers for Windows 8 yet;
- my wife's laptop has Windows 7 but, for some reason, the FR curve looks quite a bit different* when OmniMic is running on her laptop, so I'm not sure I can trust any tweaks I'd make there.

I may have to hook up the miniDSP for now.

(*I don't have any graphs of the differences between the curves . I'll try to take and post some asap.)

I have to say that it took a little while for my UXL-18 drivers to loosen up a little.

I'm willing to give 'em a bit of time to loosen up.

I got the iNuke remote app working on my W8 laptop. All I did was click "Connect" and then not select the amp and click "Connect" again. Weird.

So now I've got a question posted here because I can't get the sub-20Hz boost to work.

Hi eljay, have you tried the Low Shelf (LS12) filter @ 20Hz under the PEQ tab and a gain of say 10dB to see if that changes your FR?

I did (although I didn't graph it) and, as with the SS-18s + miniDSP, it had minimal effect.

I also tried a shallower, 6dB slope on both the HPF (Butterworth, 6dB/octave) and the PEQ (HS6, 20Hz, -12dB gain), but that didn't do much, either.

For now, I've left it as shown below (black line). If I can't boost the FR curve below 20Hz using the iNuke DSP, I'll add the miniDSP back into the chain.

- Green is Audyssey on, everything else flat
- Black is Audyssey on, with a boost as 22.5Hz.

Hi eljay, I am a little confused...

I don't think you want a HPF at all with a sealed system. Also, your PEQ settings should be a low shelf filter not a high shelf filter: LS12, 20Hz and +12dB gain not minus. I am using a DCX2496 unit and not the iNuke software but the settings should be the same...

I was going under the assumption that the iNuke rolled off at 20Hz by default and that using LTD02's method of pushing the HPF lower would allow me to EQ below 20Hz.

I re-read his OP in this thread of his and now I understand my misunderstanding. Thanks for pointing it out.

That said, low-shelf doesn't do anything, the same as low-shelf on my miniDSP didn't do anything.

The only way I was able to get anything to EQ below ~17Hz was to have OmniMic generate the biquad filters and load them into the miniDSP. Which is what I'll try to do some time later this week.

Weird that the LS filter does nothing...The iNuke is good to 10Hz.
