I can't believe the price went up. I was going to order now having second thoughts. The price increase is what my total was with shipping.

For 2 it's $452 vs old price $390.

Did you not read the site for the last few months stating it was a preorder discount only?
They did not hide this in any way on their site.
Even at that price for an "18 subwoofer is fairly rediculous if you think about it

I saw preorder but I guess I did not see for that price. Oh well, I guess I will thin about it for a while. The one reason for this driver is for the Marty Cube build. I want to build 2 of them but now I'm second guessing overkill.

What are people doing for cabinets this time around? DIYSoundGroup and Parts Express have the 4ft3 cabinets, but not with the larger cutout for the SI sub.

I was gonna do 2 stonehenges, but Erich never responded back to me on putting the reverse one up on the site so I had opposed ports, so I am having a friend build me 2 "mini martys" this weekend. I wanna let these badboys breathe!

I followed the heard and made two minimartys. They are great sized and stack easily.

Cost break down for both boxes.
1.4 sheets 3/4 mdf x2 $110
Wood screws x2 $ 12
Wood glue x2 $ 12(12 both)
Terminal posts x2 $ 18 ( I decided not to do Speakon connectors for the boxes)
Primer $ free had some left over
Roller $ 3
Sanding pads $ 5
Poly phil $ 25
Spray glue $11
Rhino liner $37 for the gallon ( Its is normally $55 at walmart, I got a dented can)
mounting screws $4
silicone $6
wood filler $6
spray rhino liner $8? (for spraying inside of vents)
spray primer $7
+ 291. $309 after MA 6.5% sales tax. When reading those Marty threads they forget to total a few things and the cost of paint if you want that "pro audio" look. Its not cheap. But you have a hand made speaker when your done and when people go over your house and go "wow those are your subs". You can say "yea I made them". Also, the wife likes it when I build stuff.

Didn't need much in the tool department aside from a new skill saw blade and three clamps that only cost $5.99 at harbor freight.

Did you do a single front and rear baffle for yours?
I just picked up 3 sheets of Mdf thinking two would be coming short for two mini marties.
I planned on three baffles though and had some small plates to make for my shakers and a small box for a plate amp for the shakers, but **** I may have over bought lol

I did double front to ported marty with double sheets on the front to reses the sub. 3 full sheetrs is more than you will need for a marty cube. A mini marty I think you should be fine.

What type plate amps are you planning on. Why not save some cash and get a pro amp to power them?

I ordered on 7/30 after the rumor that they were in stock surfaced, I received a FedEx tracking number yesterday. So far the choice to go with SI has been awesome.

Picking up the mdf this morning, should be gluing by Sunday. Finishing them with real wood over the mdf, so it maybe a few weeks until tests.

Thanks again to the veteran DIY guys. I will post pics in my build log by Monday, hopefully someone else will see one of my pics that represents something in a slightly different way and it answers a question they had, or solves a problem for them. Sometimes it's just a different perspective that conveys the information.

Bummer, I had to change my order from D2s to D4s, which I did 7/30 and the D4s were shipped the next day. It could be because I emailed SI and Sundown to make sure they received it.

Maybe I missunderstood you, but did you build two mini's from 1.5 sheets? I blasted through all 3 sheets to do both of mine without double baffles. I figure Ill use the small spare pieces to just brace the hell out of the boxes to make up for not having the third baffle.

I got my subs today and one of the boxes pretty much completed with a friend who is handy. . . . . porn time!
