Keep in mind, Sundown is the king of conservative ratings. Their SA line of subs have been been kippel tested to take a clean 1800 watts RMS despite their 600 RMS rating.

Their NightShade's are well renowned for breaking many SPL records (and windshields). I am speculating that these Z's out perform LMS 5400.

nyt and I were talking yesterday on IRC (irc.efnet.org in #av ). We speculated that maybe these out perform the LMS 5400s.. What if? And we were kidding about him replacing all of his LMS 5400s with these guys.. I guess we will soon find out.

Those surrounds could be just the ticket for PR's.

Looks like you'd only need half as many.

I remember bringing up such a thing back when the HST18 was shown here. I sure hope they consider building some PR's with those. Oh! And a 24" version.

Not a chance, LMS kill it in ported, these are better in sealed. I'm not excursion limited. LMS are pure win for my setup.

Also, "#a/v" stupid hash tags

The only pics I see from the website are of 12's... the 15's and 18's just say "Image Coming Soon".

more interesting is found at the bottom of the page:

Xmax = ~40mm one-way by 70% BL (stock coil)
RMS Power = ~2500-watts (varies based on configuration)

mods, can we have a 'dislike' button ?

These surrounds are pretty necessary. take the LMS ultra for example. It's surround limits it to just over 30mm of xmax. The claimed figures are so bogus its disgusting. I thought they'd address this, but never did. At least I'm using them in a situation I'm not xmax limited anymore with the ported enclosure, and they're superb for that, but I was pissed at the time with the sealed boxes.

when those subs are "perculat'n like craaaaaa-zy" (about the 1:30 mark or so) is the camera mic distorting the heck out what is coming out of the subs or are they well over 100% distortion at that point?

Talking to Jacob he said he could get the 18's basket to approach about 5.5" P-P for Mechanical. Nice to see you can beat the crud out of these subs and they keep on going.

And after checking out a custom 15" N V3 with a .9 Le I was EXTREMELY impressed with their custom builds. He stated he could get the Le down to about .3 with a 4 layer instead of the 8 layer they used. Great products I think and I cant wait to get my own pair of subs from them.

I dont know why but I seem to really like watching some of these excursion videos Jacob and others keep making. Bosso's, Notnyt's, Nicks and Jacobs are all fun to watch. PLUS the people I mentioned dont have distorting mic's with the videos.

Thanks again for sharing this thread Notnyt.

You've been wanting to get into some of these for a while now. Glad you get the chance, and with such a nice number.

These, the HST, SP4, and UXL all model very very close in 4 cubes sealed. Within a DB or two if I remember right, but it's been a while since I looked.
