18" Dayton HO - Center cap seam cracked

I noticed that one of my sub drivers has a crack in the center cap seam. When I push on the driver I can hear air rush out of the crack.

Has anyone had this happen with the Dayton HO?

I'm hoping Parts Express will cover this under warranty.

I checked my other three and they ok. However, one of my subs is leaking air out of one of the screws. The screw is tight so I'm thinking I need to add a gasket.

That's probably a really easy fix with some epoxy. I'd contact PE or dayton and ask what you should do. Did it break in shipping or from use?

Is the crack all around or only in one part of the seam? Is the opening visible?

Just asking so I can investigate around here.

Here is a picture. The seam is cracked between the two lines. It looks like there is a dent in the driver where the arrow is. I can barely see it but it really shows up in the picture.

Is the cracked seam something I can fix? If so, what would I use?

Thanks for posting the photo.

If the driver arrived that way, it shouldn't have. Did you purchase the driver new?

I will forward your comments to our factory as an example of an unacceptable condition that escaped.

For now, please contact PE customer service to arrange for a replacement under warranty.

Yes I bought it new from PE. I would be lying if I said it arrived that way, because I don't know. I never looked closely at the cap. I found this by chance.

This does make me nervous about my other three. Going forward I will probably go with the ultimax.

My experience with Part Express customer service was absolutely outstanding!!! I originally posted this thread thinking the subwoofer only had a 3-month warranty and was looking for a way to re-glue / weld the dust cap. Rory came on and pointed me to customer service. I have been working such crazy hours lately that I kept forgetting to call. I finally contacted them and this is what I got back...

"We would be more than happy to get this replaced for you. Box the subwoofer up and ship it back to the address below and we will get a replacement sent as soon as we get it back. Please let us know if you have any other problems."

I still had the original box. So I boxed it up and my wife shipped it for me. The package was supposed to arrive at PE today. So, I was shocked when I got an email today with the tracking number for the replacement subwoofer.

Thanks, Parts Express!
