RMA time.
That's a bummer for sure. If it comes down to it and PE runs out of stock you can fix them with a gel based cyanoacrylate (crazy glue). Apparently it was a glue/paint issue attaching the spiders to the basket.

Best of luck with the RMA, and your boxes look fantastic (and deserve working LMS drivers )

PE issued an RMA and the defective sub was picked up by UPS today. Looks like a couple more weeks of waiting to find out how three LMS's work in my room.

Sorry to hear about the defective driver. But at least PE seems to be doing right by you. That's good to hear. Also wanted to add that you have mad finishing skills. Something I'm currently working on getting better at myself. However much black dye you added to the BAC walnut stain was an exactly perfect amount. Those enclosures (too pretty to call them "boxes") are drop-dead gorgeous.

Not to bud in, but I have a pair and think they are great. Of course I haven't heard the ultras so can't compare. There are other options for 18s for the money, but I am not dissatisfied in any way with the lms-r.

On topic, I dig the looks of the cabs. Good work!

Thanks for the kind words. PE service was very good. The stain was ebony and I would probably never be ever to match the dye mix again but wood takes stain differently so probably not an issue if I build another some day.

I've only watched one movie so far and it sounded great but beyond my skills to distinguish between what the single LMS Ultra 5400 18" was putting out vs the pair of LMS-R 15's. I would have built a second LMS-U 5400 as well but think I picked up the last one so decided to try two LMS-R's. In my room the 18" was plenty and now with the two 15's I'll need to add more gasket tape to the door to keep it from rattling.
