Dual AE TD18H+ elliptical bass cab's

Hi AVS

This project has been on the drawing board for awhile now ,helping mates out with there projects and them helping me out in the end after having a discectomy an another one after tearing the disc again .

The cabs are going to be a quasi MTM arrangement with a PSE-144 elliptical point ource horn in the middle .
My friend Paul Spencer designed the PSE-144 and he took my google SketchUp drawings and converted them to CAD .
I had Paul get the front/sub baffles & brace section CNC'ed due to not being able to lift heavy sheets of ply & mdf after the last op .A couple mates help me out when theres lifting to be done .

Here's the drawings & test mule PSE my pair are gloss black .

Cheers

Gluing

Gluing the front baffle & baffle extension , my mate gluing one side while I glue the other ,speeds up the process .

I found it easier to stack and glue the sections first then drive the dowels through . I done this with a past project .
Trial fit first ,then glue

Cheers mate

The horn is gloss black ,I chose that because I could use it as a base colour or film wrap it .

I haven't decided on a colour for the cab's ?. Thinking of a copper finish for the baffles to match my amps then paint the cab's & amp case's in matching colours .

I'll make a test baffle to see how the copper works out ,I have a few ideas.
The unfinished amp case's

Cheers

What compression driver will you be using? Will it be a 2", or 1.5", or 1.4" or just a 1"? I would think that using duel AE TD18's would make a hell of a lot of mid bass!

His horn has a 1" CD and 4" mids. Like the Synergy horn. So it is quite dynamic in the mids, so the 18's will be a nice setup.

Baffle jig

Hi

Today we made a jig out of the 2 spare braces so we could router a radius into the ends of the baffles so they would mate up to the horizontal braces ,2nd ones in from the top & bottom .

You could have had a nice simple rectangular cuboid speaker box, but, no, Mal has to go and ramp the complexity factor up several notches. It's not like you don't have a history of doing this.

Where did you find this horn for sale? Do you mind me asking the purchase price? Does it come standard with the 1" cd in the back and the 4" mids? If so, what 1" compression driver and what 4" mids are you using in this?

That will tell you more about the horn.

Did you get the 18's on a GB or just ordered them yourself?
