Thanks, couldn't think of any reason why, just that most people seemed to be doing it that way. Got loads of bits and bobs lying around from previous builds so won't need to buy anything else luckily. Really am so grateful to the op for this thread

Forgot about it tbh! Thanks for that! It was an honest mistake! So all of the above measurements need to be +6? Correct?

In the official ED thread if you see last few pages, most of the folks (me included) have replaced the stock driver from ED A2-300 to Infinity 1260W.
That has worked very well with that box.
I was planning to add another A2-300 (if found in used market) by replacing the driver.
But discontinuation of 1260w was quite disappointing.
Looks like this JBL may do the trick?
Any ideas?

Well I got 4 boxed up in a corner, not sure when I'll get to them because I got distracted by another 'hobby'. A 65 Bug.

Could some one please link an appropriate flatpack for the single sealed or ported sub that will work with this JBL driver?
TIA.

Thanks. Should be a fun little car. Won't be doing a surfboard in Atlanta! LOL Probably some vintage stuff like luggage, cooler, old picnic basket, and whatever crazy stuff I feel like tossing on top. Today it's just a folding chair as I'm heading to my first VeeDub meet.

Vintage luggage that is also a Bluetooth boombox! What any selfrespecting AVS'er would have on their roofrack😀

I got a second A2-300 from local CL.
And looks like this JBL would be the replacement for the driver as Infinity 1260 is all gone.
Anyone replaced JBL in their A2-300?

Will the JBL be a drop in replacement for the Infinity? My nearfield box I built for the Infinity's is super beefy and nice and if I didn't have to completely rebuild that if a 1260 craps out that would be awesome if I could swap them all out to JBL's.

Based in eng-399's test it should work and also be a bit louder. You can check his infinity thread and post 1 in this thread for comparison measurements

I've got 2 JBL's in my possession and 2 more that should be here by tomorrow (secretly contemplating grabbing 2 or 3 more just for the hell of it ) for nearfield duties. Quick question, do I stand to gain/lose anything by going with the DIYSG 1.5cu ft flatpack vs the Sonic Electronix Belva drop in box (both sealed)? I'm game for either and my immediate guess is that the bracing and double baffle of the DIYSG box accounts for the slight markup in price over SE's version. For normal nearfield placement (few inches behind couch) is the cross bracing as critical?

I am interested to know as well.
The DIYSG is almost double the cost and you will also have a labor of putting it together and finishing it.

When I built my first subs I used car boxes, braced them with 2x4's, stuffed them with r13 and they worked great. If you don't mind the carpet, they are fine.

I haven't even built my Infinity 1262 enclosures yet, and there is a part of me saying "You regret not getting more of the Infinity subs... just spend $260 on 8 of these".

Should I jump on em? I dunno what I would even use them for yet... but still.

Do these CS1214 come with gasket tape (that you stick when drop-in)?
If not, is there a place you can buy one?

Closed cell foam weather stripping is all you need.

http://m.homedepot.com/p/MD-Building...nuRhoCpjHw_wcB

It's what I use. Make sure you mark your driver holes and put the stripping inside and away from the screw holes toward the driver hole on the box. You don't want to screw into it and twist it up.

Just pulled the trigger on 4x CS1214,
Ha. I actually wanted 1 or may be 2, but oh well.
I plan to replace these in the eD A2-300. Hopefully they match up.

hey guys, I just ordered 8 of these. I figured 8 12s have got to move some air!

I know nothing about VAS, QTS, etc

Can someone kindly give me an idea of how 8 of these would look with sealed boxes.
thanks

64 base level speakers $10k
28 height speakers $10k,
14 subwoofers $10k
90% of the movie sound coming from the center channel - priceless.

How do you plan on using these. Farfeild? Nearfeild? Half and half?

The ones 2.5 feet from mlp are going to used as mbms(mid bass modules)??? Or in other terms tactile response??
