Nope. I have an A8L, not available in the U.S. with a manual. What Audi do you have? I have an Alfa Romeo Spider for when I want to shift gears.

Any week but the 3rd works for me!
Canton is about an hour away from our office, so not bad drive.

If you want to play, give me a list of your theater equipment and I can show you some automation / media control stuff.

I checked out your company site. Looks like a really cool offering. Here is my equipment that I currently control with a Logitech Harmony Ultimate:

Denon x4200w AV Reciever
Sony VPL HW45ES Projector
Oppo UDP-203 UHD Disc player
Direct TV Genie
Roku Premium +

I think we support all of your hardware.

Do you have all of your equipment in a rack that we can easily plug in?

Denon x4200w AV Reciever - IP connection - easy.
Sony VPL HW45ES Projector - I think this requires a serial control cable - do you have that run to the equipment rack?
Oppo UDP-203 UHD Disc player - This needs a Serial cable connection
Direct TV Genie - IP connection - easy
Roku Premium + - IP connection - should be easy...I haven't played with a Roku yet.

I'll bring an Intel NUC with the software loaded and two serial USB adapters to plug and play.

I assume you are using all IR currently....we won't need to use any IR so your Harmony setup should not be affected.

Any lighting control in the theater? If not, I can bring some Z-Wave and Caseta stuff to play with.

Should be fun.
David

The projector has a 30' IR blaster wire ran to it from the equipment room.

I don't have any serial cables. I do have two Insteon dimmer switches.

Hi Brian,
Can you run a ethernet cable from rack to projector so we can convert that to a serial cable?
Cat5 is fine. Terminated with 586B 8 pin. You can get it preterminated if you know the length.
I can terminate it for you as well when I get there.
IR is not the best...serial / IP is a much better experience as it's two way.

I will bring an Insteon PLM to try.

Are you close to locking in a date?

Cool.

Sorry for the delay. I had to find my other long Ethernet cable. Yes I can run it over to the projector. It is already terminated on both ends. Not sure what kind it has. Its a CAT6 I bought from Monoprice.

As for a date. It will be either the 17th or 24th. Will lock it down in the next few days.

Brian,
I am new to posting on this forum but have been reading it fir about a year now. I saw that you are having a get together at your house and I live very close. I live in Redford so probably 15 minutes away. My co-worker has a nice theater room with a 110 inch screen and my brother has a similar one in Wisconsin. I currently and going through several surguries from a defective hip replacement 4 years ago that had many complications and surguries with it ( next one is May 3rd my 3rd replacement ) we are expecting some sort of a settlement due to the original hip replacement being recalled for being defective and causing me all these issues. We plan on using this to buy a bigger house and building a theater room in it. This won't be possible for another year and a half or so but looking for any info I can get for a good set up. Currently looking at the Denon flagship ( 7200 I believe ) Klipsch reference premier 7.2.4 Atmos system with their flagship RP speakers I think if I remember correctly the RP480, the Oppo 203, and the Epson LS10500 again I think this is correct. I have them all saved in a folder on my iPad so the model numbers may be off a little but hopefully you still know what I am referring to. I would like a s teen about 130 inches. I know I am new here but I would love to be part of your get together if you are ok with it. If not I understand as one also has to be careful these days. If you want to meet ahead of time at a neutral place So you can meet me that would be ok for me. I am a 50 year old married man with a 23 year old elementary teaching daughter living at home with us. I currently have an Integra 8.3 with a 5.1 system that has been assembled over say 15 years. I am way overdue for an upgrade but our current house is way to small to invest in anything better so we are waiting till we move to upgrade. My TV is a Samsung 8500 2007 55inch. Was very nice but is showing its tech age and with 4K here again looking to upgrade when we move. This is why I am so interested in attending to see what's out there and talk with people who really know how to give me great advice to building my theater room. Please message me and let me know what you think. BTW I can't private message you as I don't have enough posts to do that yet. Hope yo hear from you soon
Sincerely
Dan Newhouse

Ok guys. The poll ended up being a tie between the 10th 17th and the 24th with most mentioning the 17th and 24th so I decided its going to be on Saturday June 17th. Very casual, pretty much all day event. Wife and kids should be out by 10 or 11. Noon max. No real curfew. If you show up a little earlier than that, no big deal, especially if your bringing equipment etc. I know we have some people driving quite a bit so hopefully the large time frame will make it worth your trip.

If this date works for you, send me a PM or email me at bh6751@gmail.com and I will add you to the attendee list and send you my info. Please include your name, email, and phone #

I am going to add an attendee and equipment/room setup list to the 1st post.

I think I can make the 17th. Not to bad a drive from NW Indiana. Eng 399 and I have had GTG's and the guy are real respectful of your house. I like the ideal of everyone flipping $10-20 for food and beverages. GTG's are highly rewarding and gives people the ability to see what can be accomplished in a given space and with what gear.

I'm am not into DIY speakers, subs is a different story but, they are way to large for transport. I can help with setup.

I have not met one person from AVS yet that wasn't extremely cool and respectful. Everyone has been great and I can tell from reading Mike's GTG threads that you guys are no different. It's very interesting to me how all of us in this hobby click so well. Everyone always says the same thing "it's so nice to have people to talk about this stuff with in person!"

Wow, so many Audis. I was planning on selling my S5, but maybe I should drive it to the GTG as well. My daily driver is a Jeep Cherokee, but I drive the S5 on weekends when it's not in storage.
