DIYSG 3x HTM12's and 8x Concentric8's Build

Well, this has been a long time in the making. Started looking into these sometime ago. Began correspondence with Erigh back in late January, trying to figure things out. But after 3 months, the pallet will be arriving tomorrow afternoon! Special thanks to @Erich H for the endless back and forth emails answering questions, as well as @Mattcc22 and @chadsmith013 for their advice and support.

Initially, I was looking into the Fusion and Volt lines. But, after some recommendations that there was a higher-end coaxial, and the HTM's being introduced, I went with the HTM12's ad Concentric8's. Should be interesting as as far as I know, there is almost no firsthand experience with the Concentric's, let alone direct comparison to the Volt's. We are planning on doing a GTG soon to compare and contrast some of the different options that DIYSG has. In attendance will be my HTM12's and Concentric8's, Matt's HTM10's and Volt10LX's, Chad's Fusion10's and Volt6's, and maybe @grnwnv 1099's. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll be sure to reserve spaces below for some listening impressions of them in my place and the GTG, and pics of the build along the way.

Speaking of the build, it's really going to be more of an assembly. Due to time constraints, lack of tools and logistics, I had Erich do a lot of the work. He already had assembled Concentric boxes ready to go and was able to have his cabinetry guy put together and sand the HTM boxes. I bought the pre-assembled Xovers by @mtg90 . Matt and Chad offered to start an assembly line, but they're located up in Jacksonville, about 90 minutes away. And finding the same time off and getting free and trying to paint multiple coats would have taken many consecutive weekends over a month or two I fear.

So with most of the hard part done, I'll be painting them myself. Going to have a neighbor across the street help cut the terminal holes tomorrow night. I'll be using Skillz Latex Premier Primer in a Gray base. And, Behr's Marque in Carbon. Planning on 2 coats each but we'll see how it looks as I go. Many have said I may need only 1 of each. After that, it's just putting in the components and acoustic treatments. The Concentric8's come with Acoustic Foam and I'll be getting some Ultra Touch for the HTM's.

Stay tuned...

So the pallet came in today. As always, Erich did a fantastic job packing it all up. It took me over an hour to get it all unboxed. I'll continue to add pics of the process along the way. And if someone has requests for any specific pictures of the components just let me know. Also willing to take suggestions of the best way post the pics. Maybe an image hosting site?

This sounds like it will be an interesting process, can't wait to see how things turn out!

Edit: And I'd love to learn more about the Concentric 8, I don't see much up on the DIYSG site, are they that much better than the Volts?

Well I was more so speaking about DIYSG options specifically, but of course we'll add his stuff in the mix!

OJ, yeah there's not much info out there about them. Took a lot of digging to find anything. Very few threads on them and the few that did say they bought them never really reported back on impressions or measurements.

Basically from what I've read about them is that they're higher grade components than the Volt's. I think I read Matt Grant saying they were audibly better than the Volt's.

Also, the CD is built into the Woofer and shares the same magnet assembly, whereas the Volt's you screw in the CD to the Woofer. Here's some sporadic info in various threads.

This is the one thread with a build and impressions and also some comments from Matt Grant.

There was also some talk about them buried somewhere in the large Coaxial thread...
