The 2152H's have the came CD as my main LCR which is why I'm switching. They run the 2416. My setup is unique.

I have a taste for hard to find JBL stuff lol!

I'll look for it tonight and post it. I think the link for it was in my last GTG thread so hopefully I'll be able to spot it.

Edit: I can't find it myself it was published 12-28-15 I sent James who wrote it a email just now to see if he has the link for it.

I been away for a while. Mike it is great you are gearing up for another nice event. Save me a place in some corner of the room, lol. Let me know what I can do to make it another great gtg!!!

We all need to think of something that can make the gtg, great. Cook food, tell some jokes, help get your bubble on, etc.

Hi Derrick glad your able to stop by. Hope your felling better since the last time we talked! Your buddy Brandon that was at your house for GTG lives in my neighborhood I stopped by his house last week to see his madness with all his klipsch speakers. He must have have 50 pairs of speakers down there. I would post pictures but not with out his approval to show you and the public.... I was in audio bliss when I walked down there. He's a really nice guy to hope he can make the GTG.

.

Brandon is a great guy and he is very knowledgeable on all this audio stuff. The more gtg's you have, the more difficult. You have and continue to do an excellent job of having new stuff and always some great educational component.

We are all he to help Mike!

I know a guy looking for a couple of subs like the Mini Marty or Mary subs. Anyone looking to sell drop me a PM. If we need to build a couple, looking for suggestions since Parts Express is out of the Ultimax and Reference drivers.

I agree the more GTG's the more difficult it is to keep people wanting to join in on the fun/madness! I'm open to hear from anyone for ideas and suggestions on what they would like to see happen.

I had few idea's myself and what I'm thinking is to have a short WINISD class on how to model a sub and what your looking at on the screen. Second @DocOrange88 was thinking on showing guys how to recone a driver when it's blown. I think this will help many guys.

@sonichart might still have his Dayton Audio RSS460HO-4 18'' drivers for sale at a good price right now. I could maybe build a few boxes for those drivers if your friend is 100 percent sure hes going to buy them or loaded with my 2 SI18 D2's. I could also make a custom box that would fit his space a little better than the full marty or mini. Changing the shape is no problem I would just keep the total cubic ft the same to his liking. This could be done with either 1 inch MDF or 3/4 mdf with a round over on the baffle and sprayed in black duratex. I would have to charge a fee plus the cost of material to build it. We can take that to pm.

So far 3 listening room's one being the Theater Room and two other spots in the basement for listening with the choice of changing speakers up and subs to everyone taste and liking. I figured if someone wants to play theVBSS PA460's with book shelf speakers they can or use the SIi's, magnums and plug there phone in and play what ever song they want to listen to last year guys really liked doing that.

Hi Mike! Im Jeff, a neighbor to the north from Milwaukee. If you have room for one more or have a stand by list, I would love to meet and join you guys for the fun and any mini classes you have.

I can bring my Infinity 1262 loaded THT sub if there is room. It's 18x18x72. I also enjoy BBQing, so I can bring something in that regard or just throw down on snacks and such. I'll bring some local beers as well.

Being a complete newb, I would enjoy a mini REW class and or a crossover class. Not so much designing one, but how to read a schematic, assemble, and solder one.

Let me know if you have the room for one more. Have a great day!

Jeff

Hi Jeff I'll put you down on the list. We can do a mini REW class to. Things come up with people so I expect a few guys not being able to attend... life happens and things come up as it's happened to me to with other gtg's. Glad to have over. Please bring over the THT sub if you can fit it in your car that would be really cool to hear. I use to have 8 of those subs sealed nearfield and was a lot of fun! If you don't mind BBQing something up that would be a HUGE help to me. What ever you think on that end to for BBQ. Looking forward to meeting you. I'll send you a pm with my info soon.
Mike

I have a 15" JBL 2226HPL that could use a recone due to a hole in the cone and dust cap push in. I'm going to buy the kit to recone it one that is drop in ready.

I would not have enough time to do one that is not drop in ready due to drying times etc. I figure I can do this early and after 3-4 hours we could test it out, if there is a box we could slap it in.

If you need help reconing the 2226 let me know. I did that for four of them a number of years ago.

PS I think I'm going to buy the speakers. Sorry to disappoint those who wanted them.

The JBL are Mpoes12!

Sounds great! I'll pick up the kit, should be a great demo for those at the GTG.

Hah! Mike add it to the description. Reconing a JBL driver tutorial.

Does anyone have a broken Cd that needs fixing. We can do that too! I just took apart and cleaned my Cd's so it's all fresh right now.

Doc be sure to bring instructions. Too easy to forget critical steps. Not like I recone for a living. I refoamed an infinity once and forget the all important push step to center the surround. I had to cut it off and start over.

I've been watching many videos at this point...the preambled part that I am ordering makes it slightly simpler. I just fixed the CD's in four speakers replaced the Diaphragm.

Yeah I found it far easier than I originally thought. You have to be careful. It's not rocket science, but if you hurry and make mistakes you waste time and money. I've had a lot of people come to me for refoams because it was too daunting. A lot of shops charge big money for that. I feel like anything over maybe $40-$50 is too much given the labor involved. A recone is actually easier (in my opinion) because its easier to be precise. The biggest problem is the soldering of the leads and cleaning the landings.

Yeap that is true. I don't really have much of an issue however because the 2226HPL(yea they are out of 4647A) is not blown it has cone damage and a dented dust cap...I could likely repair the 2226HPL cone, but I don't think that is the right call for its high power handling. I also have one spare 4647A with a perfectly fine 2226HPL.

I am using 4 JBL 2226(two HPL and two Js) and two JBL 2242Hs which gives a total RMS power handling of about 4000 watts. I don't think I need or can even use all of that output.

Mike what do you think about adding some more demos. I know the REW class had some issues last time. Instead of doing a class on how to set eq we could do a basic acoustic analysis instead. That wouldn't require touching your settings. Just run a full range sweep and interpret the results.

Sounds good with me the REW mini class was a idea I had to just show the basics. How about right before doing a basic acoustic analysis we run through basic setup basically how to take a sweep. That should take literally a minute to do. This was asked earlier in thread by a member that's coming.

This may have been discussed, but what kind of demo material is everyone thinking?

I've got a couple CDs i wouldn't mind taking for a spin .. namely Hum - Downward is Heavenward. Album is full of moments with heavy bass and tons of melodic range. Its not Pantera, but it smashes.

I've got the 2016 DTS demo used in the Emotiva room at Axpona this year as well. The one where the keyboard shoots fire and electricity.

What else am I missing?

Thanks Phil I don't think I've seen the keyboard shoots fire and electricity one yet.... I've been slacking lately please bring that. What's up with those subs you had for sale the Dayton RS460HO-4's are they still for sale do you have a link at all for them. Those subs really sounded great in your room and eq'ed pretty flat. lots of low end and punch on them.

I'm bringing a laptop with Tidal Masters available. We can listen to whatever people want. They have a good selection of 2L recordings in Master quality. One piece in particular is challenging and revealing of good speakers. It's a solo piano piece of a Beach boys song.

Sounds good to me! Yeah the acoustic analysis won't take long either. It's just a matter of reviewing and interpreting some graphs.

I'll be very curious what your RT60 curve looks like. I think you may have added more panels since I last saw.

If anyone would find it helpful I could capture measurements of my system and maybe a few others and send the files to Mike. We could compare the graphs of the different rooms to show how they vary.

I am very interested in this. I have a laptop and mic with rew but never got into measuring my room. I'm just not a computer person and wouldn't understand the graphs anyway. Reading about it is one thing, seeing experts demo how to do it is another. I can't wait to meet all you guys.

I'm the same seeing it in person is so much easier than just reading about it or watching YouTube videos. I was lucky enough to have mtg90 walk me through it on several occasions plus my buddy Pete "corridzio" that will be that day to. I personally go over this with you and winisd I think in a few minutes seeing a few things will all make sense. I talked to your buddy Jeremy today on the phone from Michigan that's around your area he seems like a super cool guy.

Hi Mike! Thanks for the invite. I'm looking forward to meeting you and everyone else, as well as being mind blown by your theater and all the other speakers that show up!

I'll bring some shredded bbq beef. We'll talk more as the date nears regarding anything else I can do to help.

Hi All -
ENG - I would like to go on waiting list. I have been a lurker on the site, and now getting into DIY.

I have a slotted box with a 12" Dayton Ultimax - hooked up to a Dayton 1000 amp. I also have 2 Epik Empires in front, and 2 Buttkickers in the couch.
My wife said no to me buying Raylon's 1099's - So I have Klipsch towers in fronts and rear.

But she has OK'd me making a nearfield, or something that fits neatly in our space. SO - time for me to learn more. Just need to figure what speakers to go with my inuke 6000dsp. and something that has good bass feel.

Regards,
Joe A

Hi Joe I'll put you down on the list. Feel free to bring anything over if you can for guys to listen to. Ryan's 1099's are really nice he did a great job on them I'm surprised he hasn't sold them yet.
