Hi All:

Bought 2 R50s and 4 R30s @ Outpost for dirt cheap - CS1 cost the most.
The 30s sounded? cleaner? for lack of a better description - I looked over the
Polk propaganda and noticed the 30s crossover @2800 while the 50s @2000.
Hmmm....
So I pulled the tweeter, same on both models, and noted that there was no back chamber to allow a non distorted lower crossover capability. With the help of PE and Madisound folks I installed Seas 27TDFCs in the 50s and the CS1. To my suprise the sound improved and no noticible, to me, voicing degradation in the shift from 50 to30s in the back/rear. The boxes for the 50s had decent bracing
and were 3/4" mdf.

Regards,

rich

MDF or Pressed Wood/ Particle Board? I only ask because I recently opened up my Infinity's and was sad to see Pressed Wood. :(

tubbsbright - I don't know.

To be honest I don't have alot of experience going inside my speakers and I assumed(???) since it didn't appear to be a particle or plywood product that it was MDF. The way it powdered under the router blade, Ive never seen anything like it. Its heavy stuff no matter what and Ive never heard of pressed wood?
